@Alex - have much stretch can we expect in the waist? Torn between the small and medium as I am between the two.

Waist will work either way since they have an elastic waistband...

I wore my size L's when I was a size 35-36 waist so I wouldn't worry too much... Get the size medium for comfort, the other dimensions differ so little elsewhere it's not worth any concern... Shorts oughn't be too tight imo...
