Power is finally back on now, after 26 hours or so. I didn't even open the machine, just started it again with an extra rinse and spin. Put in the max amount of detergent and added some vinegar in the prewash and postwash cups. Luckily it was mostly just kids clothes and workout clothes that were smelly anyways. I had a 1600 and 1610 in there that I was gonna take out to hang dry, so we'll see how that goes.

I’ve been working out for the past couple months to try and get this old ass ready for some skiing next week. Absolutely torched my lower back/sciatic nerve today doing some random leg stuff. Like can’t bend over. Felt like I was jabbed with an electric cattle prod and the pain just shoots down my leg. Any of you similar olds have a miracle cure for this? Gotta drive for 13 hours Saturday/Sunday. Getting old(er) sucks! Also my wife just told me she’s birthed two humans so quit crying.

Hot and cold packs, showers, ice, hot tub…whatever you can do. Stretch when the muscles are warm, and rest when they are cold. Some people will say you need to rest to heal, and I think you need to stay moderately active…but extremely cautiously. Don’t make sudden movements, and don’t do anything stupid.

If you’re driving for an extended period and haven’t healed yet…you may need to stop and stretch fairly often just so you don’t seize up. I know I would.

On the other hand, I would not try to do a personal best on a deadlift either for a week or two.

@SKT I know that pain all too well. Ever since I hurt my back during my rowing days 20 years ago, I get that on a regular basis. Heat and agitation helps me best. I always have a deep-heat plaster (correct term?) to put on, and go for longer slow walks. The problems you know have are your muscles locking up, so taking meds to relax them is also an option.
