Iron Heart New Office - AGAIN…..
-
Fuck my life.
Young @AdamC, having recently got married will have to get used to that kind of life

So, we need a new awning for outside the office to guard us against rain and sun when we eat/drink in the garden.
I thought making one out of a sail would be cool.
So we are.
We are using the main part of this mainsail. Yes that actual sail….. :o :o
How FUCKING cool is that.....
That is pretty damn cool. I remember putting one up the morning of F&C last summer. How early do I have to be there to help out on this one?

The good thing about an IMOCA 60 mainsail, is that it is relatively flat. The boats have so much apparent speed that having a lot of curvature in the sails is not important (Alex's new boat is designed to have so much speed, he's actually considering not even taking a spinnaker). Long story short, the awning should be fairly flat and easy to install….

You are not wrong @neph93, I have become very well acquainted with flat pack furniture over the last couple of months!
Yeah. The really good news is that IKEA's planned obsolescence is about one month behind your partners need to "change things around a bit", so even if you manage to reign h/ir in the shite will fall to pieces shortly afterwards. So you'll be installing new stuff about twice a year… for the rest of your natural life

"Fast Furniture"
Though I have Ikea pieces that are pretty rugged. Probably comes down to the complexity, purpose, and use… and whether they included the correct parts.

Thank you for satisfying the materials science nerd that apparently lies within me, @Giles

I’m landing at LHR on the twelfth and getting into Petersfield late afternoon. I’m visiting my daughter there and spending the night. Should be at IHUK around midday on Friday. And you?
I'm supposed to land at Gatwick around 7am on the 13th. After that, it's a matter of getting through customs and other logistical requirements- i.e., exchanging some currency, getting a SIM card, eating a tasty airport breakfast, catching a train, hopping the ferry, etc.
So probably about the same time…
