I'm not sure I'll ever go past 21oz, personally. If it's cold enough to feel like I need a heavier jean, jeans may not be appropriate, and if they are, I can always throw on some long underwear.

I'm in the same predicament. The heaviest denim I own are the 22oz Pronto jeans which I got off the BST and it's unlikely i'll go above that. 14oz denim suits me year round and I'll simply wear thermal underwear when it gets cold.

I remember the 101 release, I think it was one of my first IH shirts.

You guys should really try the 25oz in your cut of choice.  Don't get me wrong, I do like the 21oz but the 25oz is something really special.  It is a little warmer, but I wouldn't say it's 20% warmer.  And the fabric becomes so soft over time while still maintaining a certain firmness.  At least that's my experience with the 634XHS and PIH5DCT, I've still got a ways to go on the 888XHSib.

            Blanket-line all the things!!!

These days anything above 16 oz seems unbearable thick / warm to me, even IH 21 oz. II think I could get used to it again but right now I feel like 14 oz is the perfect weight for comfortable and Lasting denim. That's why I hope the IH 14 oz black denim will come in a cut that I  like.

This is my experience too. There isn’t a big change. The OG 18oz and the UHR are much warmer than both the 21oz and XHS. Weight isn’t the only factor, tightness of weave plays a big role.

I like and am used too the heavy stuff. I’ve just got to try the old 14oz for the first time after a trade, and it is the lightest denim I’ve worn in years. We’ve had 25C temps up here recently and it was pleasant to wear. While I miss the heft I could see myself keeping some 14oz on hand for the warmer days. Avoiding shorts at any cost is far more important to me than keeping my denim over 20oz. I accept that is my quirk though. I’ve read a few comments suggesting that the second version of the 14oz is warmer than the first however.

Yeah I have had 21oz and liked it fine but it's too heavy to be ideal for me, which means 25oz isn't even on my radar. Love the 14oz and the 18oz vintage. Especially the latter.

                    Think it, be it.

It's the complete opposite for me. Some years ago I used to struggle wearing 14 oz denim during summer but now I can rock 21 oz, UHR and even XHS when it's warm. I guess it's mostly a matter of habit.

For me, my preferences for the "lighter" denims has more to do with the drape, texture, weight, and feel of the fabric than it does warmth.

It is. The 16oz Vintage denim feels much cooler and breezier if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s a great denim, but so is the 142, it’s just noticeably warmer.

I dont have much to add over what others have already said. Heavy for the sake of being heavy doesnt do it for me. I tried the XHS a few years back and I couldnt pull it off.
21oz is probably still my favorite IH denim but the lighter stuff (esp the RE) has become very appealing lately.
