@kkibbey23 you surely won't be disappointed. I am not exaggerating when I say they are amazing. These are quite unbelievable really.

One last soak for me just to make sure that I got all of that inseam shrink out.  In order to speed up drying, I'm trying a ghetto version of (I believe it was) Alex's patent-pending denim windsock:

I finally stole a few moments to try these on and take a few fit pics. My flathead screw driver technique was essential to getting them buttoned. Fit pics are unwashed, both full 36" inseam w/ stacks and IG worthy cuffs for comparison. The waist feels bigger than it measures compared to other pairs, regardless of rise. There are some discrepancies between my measurements and IHUK, but that certainly comes down to variances in each pair and inaccuracies in my techniques. The biggest difference I see is in the waist. The jeans really are a thing of beauty to behold in their rawest, straight from the factory, unworn state.

My raw measurements for size 33:
Waist laid flat, front and back not aligned: 16.0" / 32.0"
          Waist aligned side-to-side, IH method: 16.25" / 32.5"
          Front rise: 12.0"
          Back rise: 16.25"
          Thigh at crotch: 12.25"
          Thigh 2" down: 12.125"
          Knee 14" down: 8.75"
          Hem: 8.0"
          Inseam: 36.0"

Apologies for the awkward lighting which makes the finer details hard to see, and slightly distorted mirror angle…

As glorious as these are in terms of denim and construction, I do have comments and considerations. Afterall, we aren't discussing off-the-shelf Levi's STF. These jeans are at the upper echelon of what can be had anywhere, at any price, and I feel some reasonable criticism is warranted. Keep in mind, in my fit pics above, the jeans are brand spanking new, raw, unwashed and super stiff. They are practically standing up on their own. Therefore the fit looks slightly deceiving.

For a high-rise cut, I think the waist should be 1" smaller than tagged size.  That would help keep them higher on the waist instead of dropping to the hips. Compared to the 634 cut with a lower rise, this run has a waist slightly bigger per tagged size.

Personally, I'm not sure the 888 cut is the best IH cut for me. It would suit me better if the waist were 1" smaller. Regardless of how high the rise is, my jeans always end up at my hip bones. Or lower if they're a low rise cut. I really think SE's 633 would be the best IH cut for me.

I'm not sure why, but the hips feel very wide compared to the waist and thigh, when compared to my 634's. Same with my 888-NT's, which I have some saddle bagging, partially due to them being a size gig and sitting low on my hips.

I find the waist band on all of my IH jeans to be too narrow, or short in height, at 1.5". I think it should be closer to 1.75". It looks puny and not substantial enough for the overall hefty aesthetic of IH. It would also give a little more material to grab on to when button the top button.

The bottom button on this run is too close to the bottom of the fly and makes it more difficult than usual to button. My pair measures 7/8" from fly seam to button hole center. My 888-NT's measure 1.25". That 3/8" difference is significant in regards to getting that first button done.

I've considered a size down to a 32, but then the thighs might be a little too tight. The 555 are too small in the thigh and not an option for me. I'm hoping I get enough shrinkage, similar to my 634-XHS, to snug them up overall.

                I have a tag size 31 with a 31.5" waist (post-soak) and a 12.25" thigh (also post-soak). It's strange that your tag 33 thigh is also 12.25".

Okay guys, final soak/dry is done and I'm happy to say that there was no more shrinkage, and I got them to stand up on their own!

                    Final stats on tag 31:

                    pre-soak:

                    • waist:  32"
                    • thigh: 12.65"
                    • inseam: 36"

                    post-soak:

                    • waist:  31.5"
                    • thigh: 12.25"
                    • inseam:  35.5"

But your measurements are right in line with the posted measurements and it is possible to shrink the waist almost an inch…  if the waist was an inch smaller that would mean that these would end up almost a full 2 inches below tagged size after a wash.

Like mine were a 38.6 real world measurements. If they made these a 37 or even a 37.5 after a wash these would be way too small for me.

Sorry to post this, I don't mean to contradict you. But I do want to provide another point of view.

No apologies necessary. We're big kids having civil discussions.  😉

I re-measured the waist since trying them on IH-style, with a steel ruler and a tailor's tape measure, and I come up another 1/4" across - so the waist now measures 16.5" / 33.0". On the card from IHUK, their stated waist measurement is 33.3". Discrepancy prolly due to my error. I tried to take a pic with a steel ruler, but the way it turned out it appears it's another 1/2" bigger, so I'm not posting it to avoid any confusion.

Like I said, the waist does feel big for the measurement. I still think that for a high rise cut like this the waist should measure 1" smaller than tagged size. Even though this denim will shrink some, it will stretch back to at least original size and maybe more. At least for me that would work better.

I guess it would be better if the thigh measurements were a tad bigger then you could have sized down.

I finally got around to wearing these tonight (longer than just a couple of minutes). They're so great!  I'm sad that I'm going to lose them for a few days to get hemmed 😞

The inside of the denim looks so good (black, or really dark indigo/black) that I'm tempted to hem them a little longer in order to cuff, but not sure.

I have my jeans hemmed a little long. Mostly I stack them but the extra length lets me cuff them when I want to try to look cool.  😃

The bottom button on this run is too close to the bottom of the fly and makes it more difficult than usual to button.

                                I 100% agree with these 2 points.

Specifically for the 888 cut, a tad bit thicker waistband would give some added comfort.

I also noticed that the bottom buttonhole seems a bit low, but I never undo that button, so it wasn't a real issue for me.

Been wearing these around the house and felt like they could use another soak.  Previous soak was set to "warm" which in my washer is not actually warm at all, it's just not cold.  This time soaking in "hot" (which is actually hot, like you wouldn't hold your hand in it for extended periods), mixed with some "warm."  Will report any additional shrinkage but I don't expect a whole lot, and I can tolerate some in the waist.

Just finished a 20 minute cold soak in the tub. (I think the only thing that has ever taken a bath in there is jeans). Looks like the thigh shrank almost an inch which is great for me. That was my biggest concern with the sizing. I don’t normally soak my jeans because I like giant cuffs but these will need to be hemmed a little I think so wanted to get the shrink out. Included is a photo of them hanging. I use spreaders on the waist to keep them at the 36” waist.  Couldn’t resist putting the Specials album in there too. I had been listening to it.

OK results of the hot(ish) soak:

                                        Waist: a hair over 34"
                                        Thigh: 13"
                                        Inseam: 32.1"

So there was some more shrink in there.  Still stiff as hell.  Although they're smaller, it's actually easier to move around in them.  I think the shrinkage forced them to sit a bit higher which makes the legs more mobile.

Went to the auto show in Baltimore to get the kids out of the house and wore them there.  Got in and out of a few cars.  Still somewhat restrictive and not what I'd call "comfortable" but there's no shortcut to breaking them in so may as well get started.

Excited to see how these evolve.  Although they seem awkward at first I can tell they fit and that they'll be old favorites for years to come.

I know they would stretch to what I have now, which is nice, but still need to break in a lot more. About how long does 25oz take to get real comfy/broken in if wearing them everyday?  Guessing a solid month or 1.5 months?
