I was under the impression that the black snaps were Heavy Duty and more substantial than the stock ones.

Is there a difference between the 218 and 295bb other than the weight? Are they similar otherwise or are they two different denims entirely?

I have the same question as well. Isn't the 295bb a fade to gray while the JC is a slow fade staying black?

From what I understand the SBG fabric has a sulphur warp and a different black weft that does not fade, resulting in a higher contrast fade. Compared to that of 295bb and XHSbb which both warp and weft are sulphur which fade quicker with less contrast. At least that's what I read somewhere on the interwebs. I may be incorrect and would like either confirmation or correction if possible…

So you are saying they are the same, and I paid $25 extra for nothing?

Shouldn’t be an option at checkout, hey at least I should have a $25 credit coming!

There are effectively 2 types of snaps we use, heavy duty and "ordinary".  The "upgrades" just give you the ability to swap out the snap for one of the other stock options.

Just placed the order for this shirt. It stands sold out at most retailers here in Germany. Was lucky to snap one in size M. Very excited to receive this shirt.

You will not be disappointed. It’s totally different then your beloved 246, but then again not. It is much sturdier, but the depth it has due to being all black is unparalleled.

As of date, both my 246-NIN's have been the most worn IH shirts, next to the Military Serge in Green. This JC will be my next denim shirt from IH which I believe will be just another shirt that will see most wear. I'm super stoked.

The Man in Black’ is again the inspiration for this black denim western shirt, AKA ‘The Johnny Cash lll’. The 12oz black selvedge denim has reactive dyed warp and weft so that the shirt will retain its stealth look and will not fade with wear.

We have decided that the fabric has probably been subtly changed on these without anyone telling us. We do not find this shirt fades with time, even a little bit (of course it ages, but does not fade). We have updated the product to reflect this.

@Alex Is this for all Johnny Cash III’s or just a newer version?  Should a new designation be issued “Johnny Cash IV”?

We are not updating the SKU, no. I suspect that this has been the case either forever, and the shrink test gave some false results, or the fabric was changed on its second run in 2019

Thanks so much for this beta as this was exactly what I was wondering : does this shirt fade at all?
Just put mine back on and I see neary a fade anyway after 2 years of intermittent albeit not enough wear
                                        cheers, Shan
