Very cool story how the spectacular 25 ouncer was born. Thanks for sharing.
Random question for @Giles or anyone who has been around for some time. It is my understanding that the 666-XHS was born around September 2011 from a pair of 25th anniversary special edition for the store VMC which were then added to the continuous production line XHS. So here lies my question. If I got my hands on a pair of the VMC variety release version from 2011, would the quality be the same as a pair from production today. Meaning did they improve on this formula as years went by or would the 2011 VMC recipe be the same as today’s version. Did they make improvements in regards to any aspects of production or on the other hand was the old version of higher quality? Just wondering as I can me across a pair of this nostalgic pair of first XHS variety? Regardless this is very cool to know how the XHS came to fruition?
Thanks everyone. Not trying to cry sour grapes. Was exited to start a fresh pair on the 1st and now it’s the 5th and I have a pair that’s too big. Also learned a hard lesson on which retail store not to deal with and just buy from IHUK, the reason I did not to begin with was they are out of stock in this size. Germany has a pair but I figured I’d buy in the US from a store I have in the past. (But now I no longer will) All good. I’m ready to sell at a loss and buy from Germany and move on.
They have not been hot soaked. They are brand new, just received yesterday with tags. They said sorry our website states we don’t pull tight when measuring, so I am out of luck for assuming they did like you guys do. I knew the policy of no return once hemmed. What I didn’t figure into the equation was a reputable Iron Heart Dealer that does not measure denim the same as IHUK does. They don’t pull it tight, and I figured a reputable place would. My loss. They will go on the buy sell board for $100 off and I’ll take the L. Just feeling a little salty.
Just wanted to see if anyone has an opinion on this matter. I just recently purchased a new pair of 666s-21 from an authorized IH retailer. IHUK did not have my size in stock and I wanted to wear this new pair every day starting January 1st. Well on the phone I told them that tag size did not matter but hitting my waistline sweet spot did. I stated that my sweet spot was 16.5-16.75 inches. Generally in this pair that would require a tag size 33. I was told they had a tag size 34 with a measurement of 16.50 and I said perfect I will buy them and have them hemmed to 32 inches full well knowing there is no return policy on hemmed jeans. I even stated on phone make sure you pull them tight to make sure correct measurement. Well I received the pair on Jan 4th 5 days later then I had hoped to start my journey on January 1st. They were backed up due to holiday orders. This was no problem at all. Well when I received the pair felt a little big. I come to measure them and they are 17.5 inches. A full inch bigger than stated. Knowing the return policy what would you expect or do? I did reach out to them via email and it’s the weekend and haven’t got a response yet. If they suggest making it right I’ll be happy, if not I guess can super hot soak and try to lose that inch or else I’d be forced to take them to the Forum for a sale at probably a $100 loss to make a quick sale and find another pair. I don’t want to name the retailer because it could be an honest mistake and I don’t want to put anyone on blast. On the other hand they could have measured wrong or grabbed the wrong pair. Who knows? But now it’s January 5th and I have a hemmed pair that’s too big. Major disappointment.
@Fades-for-future thanks buddy, that 87 is 11 years old and going strong.
