I measure a size 11 on a US Brannock device (upper end of D width) and take a 10.5 US in Red Wing heritage boots (Moc Toe and Iron Ranger).  I have the Mr Lou's in a 10.5 E which fit me well.

Hey @tatmantall - In almost all cases with the Mister Lou, taking the same size that you wear in Red Wing Heritage boots is the best place to start. If you consider yourself to have a slightly wider foot (your Red Wings fit quite snug) then going to an E width would be the only additional consideration I would note.

Thanks, but I’ve never had any red wings 😏🤪 so that doesn’t really help much. Lol

I’ve been pretty obsessed with engineer boots for the last year or so, but always worried that it would look to try hard or costumey, but my gf finally talked me into giving them a shot. But sometimes  you just can’t make a decision on color. Ironhheart natural Essex 8.5d and standard & strange natural cxl 8.5e. In al honesty I didn’t even realize the ironhearts were d width when I ordered them. But I measure closer to C width so it seemed to work out for the intended use. Essex for work and going out, cxl for rain, snow, yard work. I’ll have to stretch the instep on the Essex a bit but with now soft the leather is I don’t think it’ll be an issue.

Edit. Instep is an issue I’ll be exchanging for a 8.5e.

Hi @Kfactor - these are on order, they should be back in stock at the start of next year. They will be a slightly different leather but we will post details on that as soon as we have in info. If you sign up to the restock notifications you will be informed as soon as they are online.

@deanclean they are going to be restocked, we've got them on order. Just awaiting solid ETA information before I say when they're due with us at the moment

@Iron-Heart-Germany is there any chance you guys would have these available at the party in September? I'd love to try them on before pulling the trigger.

@Penny_pants Tried dozens of Wesco boots on... I've found, D width is Wesco's "standard" width, if you have standard D width feet, the E width is too wide causing foot slip.

@Merv I have made different experience. To me, Wescos „E“ width is more like a standard „D“ width. My Brannon width is D and Wesco E fits me perfectly.

I have three pair of Mr. Lou’s and agree with that assessment. I normally wear a D width in boots in general but the E width in the Mr. Lou’s is a perfect fit for me.

                                        adding in another personal observation
i've found the D width Mr. Lou's to fit just like other D width shoes i've owned EXCEPT that they are much lower volume over the instep and toes. Maybe this gives the impression of it fitting narrower/smaller compared to other shoes/boots. Comparing the Wesco D to other PNW boots' C width, there's absolutely no question to me that the D is really a D width for my foot.

When buying my first pair of Mr. Lou’s, I consulted Standard & Strange and there sizing guide on their site for the Mr. Lou’s states “The MP1339 last that these are built on runs narrow, so the E width wears like a D.” Granted, everyones foot is shaped a little different and this is a general guideline, but what convinced me at the time is that S&S offers the Mr. Lou in only E widths.
