Jacques Marie Mage (JMM) - Sunglasses and Frames…
-
Went and tried some on at the only local place that sells JMM in Nashville. Wanted to try the Dealan and Molino, but they didn't have any in stock. I liked the Hopper and the Fellini, but not enough to walk out with that day. The Fellini was a little too squared off for my tastes. I felt too much like Frank Rossitano from 30 Rock.
They're gonna call when they get in more Dealan's and others in the coming weeks.
-
I'm interested in the Fellinis down the line, but I know what you mean about the square vibe — sometimes it just doesn't work for whatever face. I've liked those in quite a few pics though, and would love to try some on sometime.
I've always been a Wayfarer guy, so the Dealans were naturally appealing to me. I'd like to a/b a pair of the regulars with my 53s.
Speaking of square, I didn't notice the Walkers until just the other day. I'm a massive Scott Walker fan, so they piqued my interest, to say the least. Might be the next ones I pick up, should I decide to go full addict.
-
Wayfarer guy here as well. Yea I'd like to a/b both sizes of the Dealan as well. But, all the other pairs I tried on the other day were 50 and they were all perfect in that aspect. Plus I'm not sure which ones they will get in locally for me.

Walker is what I have @popvulture and unquestionably my favorite frames in terms of style and comfort of all time. Such thickness in the acetate especially where the earpieces meet the frames. They just FEEL amazing and I think the shape works for most faces.
-
Hell yeah man! I'm gonna have to go back in the thread and see yours again. I remember they looked great but didn't realize they were Walkers.
They seem nice and wide, which is great for my aforementioned large Irish dome.
No sun no problem:
-
I think they look wider than my face on camera but they aren’t in the flesh. On paper I would have passed thinking they were too wide. Trying them on they worked and it was an easy choice.
Here is another picture not sure if it helps.
-
Man those look great, and definitely just right in terms of width. They're contenders for me, for sure. I'll probably just enjoy the hell out of my Dealans until they release some color in these that I just have to have. Hopefully not too soon

Damn those are perfect on you @mclaincausey. What color are the frames?
-
Thanks @Kirk and @popvulture ! this is the Argyle colorway which is tortoise with the gold innards of the earpieces covered by tortoise and not clear acetate

Love it and was hoping that was the color. So good. That’s what I ordered in the Dealan. I share your thoughts on the innards being covered vs exposed. Too flashy for me to pull off. That configuration steared my decision making on the color for each model.
-
Does anyone have firsthand experience with the ‘surplus’ color? That’s what I ordered in the Fellini. In some pictures the color is more muted and almost looks black(?). The model pictures on the JMM site are more of a olive/fatigue green color. Fingers crossed the appearance looks more like this…

I share this sentiment. Works for some peeps but I don't think I could swing it.
Psyched to hear what you think about the Surplus. I bet it'll be pretty light-dependent, some nice fatigue pop in the sun. I also think the gold accents work particularly well with that color.

Wow–I love that color in both shots, and I suspect it may appear as each (greener or blacker) according to lighting. I saw that with the Walnut colorway, brown to black.
In the Dean Delray podcast interview (excellent insight into Jerome whose only blemish is that the host interrupts excessively for my liking), he talks about color, and I think his eye for color and the quality of the acetate make for some really crazy possibilities. He mentions green specifically, and how green frames usually don't sell. But his do because of how good his eye is and the materials are.
+1 to @popvulture 's statements
-
Oh yep indeed, I remember Dean talking about that. I really wouldn't mind a pair of the Walkers in Rover. Maybe I'll hold out for that.
-
Agreed across the board @sabergirl
When I was scouting for some clear acetate optical frames, I was surprised to try on a pair (Morris I think) in kind of a matte clear gray acetate up front with titanium earpieces that I really liked a lot versus the chunky acetates that are so distinctive and first grabbed my attention.

New sunnies arrived today. Love ‘em. Grabbed a picture of the Dealan in argyle. I was worried about being able to pull off the look of the subtle cat eye but I think it works. I’ll get one up of the Fellini too. Not sure who made the comparison of JMM acetate frames to IH xhs denim but the analogy is spot on. Once you’re wearing ‘em it’s hard to go back to what you were before.. The craftsmanship. The quality. The fit.
bonus shot of my 276
(Ohhh the irony. How ridiculous of me to snap a selfie whilst driving AND have my safety belt buckled. Oh well it’s the best I could come up with. I promise no pedestrians were harmed :D)
-
Fantastic choice @Kirk they look great on you.
I had the same concern about Dealan’s cat eye shape. I think it looks more extreme in pictures I’d seen than they did on my face. They were in contention but there wasn’t an ideal colorway in stock and Walker won the day over Kaine in the finals.

I’ll second that Kirk Nice choice!
