Damn good looking rig, @Giles. Congrats!

How much time from now until you think it'll be all sorted/repaired and ready for the inaugural trip?

I'll bring it to Gosport next week (I hope) with the current owner. That way we will start to learn some of her systems.

A condition of our insurance is that we have someone on board, when underway, who has a minimum of RYA Day Skipper:

          https://www.navathome.com/course_structure_sail.aspx?gclid=CjwKCAiAgbiQBhAHEiwAuQ6BkgCy97PuV6NQsrZDzLhU_1FOlEl_DZ2ny2QPKAIFliETlkrgxTB4hBoCMAgQAvD_BwE

We have the Day Skipper theory booked for mid-March, and I guess we will have done the practical part, and be qualified by June.

So we will probably do a load of trips, but always with someone who knows what they're doing until we get qualified.

Regarding sorting and repairs….There is nothing that will stop us using the boat immediately.  The lights need fixing, but as long as we don't go out after dark we are fine.  The Copper Coat, we'll leave until next winter, it was like it when it was surveyed a year ago and has not got a whole lot worse.

…@Giles  Renaming a boat consists of six parts: 1) removing every trace of the old name, 2) performing a purging ceremony, 3) performing a renaming ceremony, 4) making a sacrifice, 5) appeasing the four wind gods, and 6) toasting to the new name. 😉

...I kinda like 'Pilgrim' to be honest. ::) Looks Great!

Pilgim remains, if we buy a new boat at some point then we will have more flexibility.  But frankly atm, I have enough to worry about…....

                                    Me, too  😉

I think our latest decision is to live with everything as is (including name) until we've actually learnt how to drive her, had a few adventures and assessed what (if anything) we'd like to change.  Repairs and possible upgrades (for example, new upholstery would be lovely) can be discussed and agreed towards the end of the year, by which time we should know if we want to keep Pilgrim for the longer term, or save money towards a bigger boat  ???

We're both silly excited, thanks again for all your good wishes  🙂

Today is the largest storm to hit England since 1987.  I popped down to the Marina to discuss a berth for Pilgrim. JESUS, there was so much damage being done to boats.  The wind is currently gusting 50knots in the harbour…..

Boats are not supposed to lean like this when berthed....

Shit photo, but Portsmouth is getting slammed
