Fuck that sucks ass. I feel like COVID might have damaged him so much that opportunities to see him to his thing again might have already been taken from us. Great, great, singer and writer who had so many good projects.

He's been a huge musical presence in my life. I think the first time I heard him was via the Screaming Trees' inclusion on the Singles soundtrack — I think I must've been about 13. "Nearly Lost You" grabbed me and I was sorta up for whatever from then on.
I saw the Trees at Lollapalooza in '96 in New Orleans, and they were definitely a highlight of the day. Dust had just come out, which was also a killer record.
I've loved all of his stuff over the years, whether it be Bubblegum, The Gutter Twins, QOTSA, or generally anything he was ever involved with. I'll miss him for sure. Rest well.

My personal favorite of his that I have heard so far is his second solo album, "Whiskey for the Holy Ghost." So dramatic, dark, and beautiful:

@mclaincausey ha, she's an old friend of mine. Booked my first band at Arlene's Grocery in NY eons ago and stayed friends since — she's got some pipes for sure, helluva singer. I remember when she was doing some stuff w Lanegan.

Very cool @popvulture ! She's great–good friend to have! I had no idea she had worked with Lanegan until I started digging in to his more recent material postmortem. I kind of lost touch after Gutter Twins. I'm enjoying every minute of that.

Yeah she's a cool person, a very hard worker. I remember realizing at a certain point that the music industry is a really tough slog, and a work ethic like hers is what I really needed if I wanted to get anywhere. In the end, I definitely don't think I was cut out for it
I always get a kick out of hearing people bring her up, makes me happy to see her success. She's earned it!

I never viewed music as hard work,although I worked quite diligently at it. I worked quite a few jobs that I didn’t like so that I wouldn’t have to play music that I didn’t like. That was hard work. I was a bio-chemistry major in college,and was worried that some day I’d be sitting in a lab and thinking to myself,I could’ve been a musician. I’ve never found myself thinking I could’ve been a scientist.

Haitian band. They’re great. They have associated with New Orleans’ scene and made a great album called HaitiaNola with many of its luminaries sitting in. They’ll be playing Jazz Fest this year, reason #1,000,001 I’m upset to miss it
Love this sort of neo soul jazzy outfit from Melbourne. They’re coming to Denver so I can’t wait to see them.
