@scooter How was the  Velvet Rush? I’ve been seeing that one but it’s been on the expensive side.

This is solid. A crisp Helles. My all-time for the style remains Surly (per the mug) Hell though.

          Think it, be it.

I enjoyed it. I wouldn't put it in the exceptional category. But, it was quite solid. It is what it says it is. Coffee, chocolate, vanilla were all well balanced. While, the barrel aging wasn't bad, I think it could have used a somewhat more compatible bourbon. I paid $4.50 for the single. So, it wasn't a budget breaker…

I couldn’t find singles and I didn’t want to spring for $16 for a 4 pack. Thanks for the review!

52 years later and masterpiece is the only way to describe ‘bitches brew’, @mclaincausey. The vision and direction of so many accomplished or soon to be, musicians on this album is incredible. But no herbie hancock though he was on ‘in a silent way’…

Yeah @Kirk for sure. Hancock was so legendary in the second great quintet though and as you mention was on the genesis of electric Miles before he did his own brilliant fusion thing. Foolish firing by Miles but hard to argue with their mutual results. Bitches Brew has several moments that send chills up my spine, give me goosebumps, and make me chuckle. It would be hard to overstate the contributions of each of these men to music. And to think of all the great players on Miles’ bands, the sprawling lineup on BB included, the first quintet/sextet, the second one, redefining jazz a few times, launching or at least getting in early on the careers of so many great players… an overwhelming and unmatched legacy.

Highly recommend his autobiography if you haven’t read it.

First ever try at a Drekker brew…. Really very good, despite this not being my preferred style of beer. It is working very well as a fresh opener for the weekend.

A bit risky with a 10%’er at 5pm, but I’m celebrating a cracking Liverpool win and some progress in the basement. This is beer like it used to be… four or five years ago [emoji1] Cracking old school IIPA/DIPA, grapefruit, pine needles, biscuit. Love it.
