WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY - WAYDT (PICS)

Today was the nicest day this year, weatherwise…similar to a spring day in higher latitudes: cool, vibrant light, still air. Anyhow it seemed like a fantastic day to bird watch around my house. I usually put out some fruit and water for my feathery neighbors so they are quite used to it.

Tanagers are prevalent these months…Thraupis sayaca are the light blue guys in this pic.

The two olive ones in the front are close relatives, Thraupis palmarum. Less common around houses than the blue guys.

Dwindling food raises tempers. But nothing that a cool dip won’t solve…

Nope… no fencing. These pastures have been used for summer grazing for years. More recently they have been developed with holiday homes for locals and visitors, and a ski lift has been installed on the slipes for winter fun. However sheep and cattle are still allowed to roam free.

As for predators, there are bears in the borderlands with Sweden, some wolves in the south east of the country, lynx and wolverines in the north. Nothing much to worry about here though.

No, this is about 15 hours drive south and west from where we live. Near the town of Ålesund, and in the mountains above the village that Ingrid’s Mum comes from.

It is pretty amazing and quite unlike anything else up here. More of a house and the style is common in Bergen which is a way from where we are. I need to try and find out more about it.

Beautiful area @neph93 …doesn’t help me forget my still unsuccessful plans for a motorcycle trip in your area. Guess I’ll shoot for next summer. I’ll enjoy it through your pics in the meantime!
