    @Giles:

    @goosehd:

    I grabbed a picture from their page and hope to see you holding a similar catch.

    That's actually quite small for Morocco…..The rod I had bought for the trip is a "Big Tuna 73 - Japan Special", it will cope with BFT to 200kgs....Now, of course, I won't be able to, but that's not really the point  🙂 🙂 🙂

    I'm assuming you'll be running the Daiwa Saltiga 20000H with that rod?  66 lbs of drag is no joke!!

        I like how you slid the Ibuprofen into your list… 🙂

                  I had a days bass guiding with a friend yesterday.  We started at 6:30 and finished at 20:30. Walked 30K steps (much of it thigh-deep in water).  I am suitably knackered.

                  An amazing day, we learnt an awful lot about watercraft, caught fish and missed some topwater takes, feet away from the rod tip by very large fish.

                  An amazing day, and now I have a few more spots that I know how to fish and at what state of tide…

                    That sounds like exactly what you needed to increase your fishing luck/skill combo

                      @Giles Have you noticed the fish acting unusual in your area?  This may explain why…

                          Depends on your bait, I'd reckon 😉

                              Bass on a fly from a drift boat. They were practically fighting to get in the net.

                                All set up and ready to go…

                                Walking to the creek, it's on the left, inboard of the ocean…

                                The route through the mangroves…

                                And I think I got here 30 minutes to late on the ebb tide, most of the fish had left the mangroves and were ocean bound.  I found one small group of about 10 fish, had one decent cast at them, I had a follow from one of them, then a refusal to commit.  I'll use a slightly more subtle fly next time I go down there….

                                  That is so awesome!!  Serious question:  Have or would you consider retiring to the area?  I've been not so subtly talking to Laura about moving to the Caribbean in about 10/15 years and just wonder if you have looked into it.

                                    I seriously considered it a few years ago, but Paula (quite rightly) vetoed the idea.  I'd have had a ball fishing, Bones on the East coast, Permit and Tarpon on the west, but she would have likely ended up a rabid alcoholic…..
