@Chop that is a brilliant demonstration of the versatility of the 888 cut. It can be worn so many different ways, and styled and sized to suit many different tastes and body types. These look really good.

      Thanks man!! Much appreciated.

Apologies if this question has been asked many times prior.  I tried these on today at SE and loved the fit.  I tried the 34 and could button the top button but it was definitely snug - like if it didn’t stretch and inch and stay that way they would likely be uncomfortable.  The store suggested I go with a 36 but didn’t have a pair in the store.

I really liked the proportions on the 34 I tried.  Should I go with the 34 and hope the waist stretches an inch and stays that way?  Or should I wait for a restock of the 35?  Or buy the 36 in stock here and hot soak if it’s a bit too roomy?

        Thanks.

The 21oz stretches readily. If it were me I would go with that.

Hrmm, I think he wrote that he could button but it was snug.  That's the description of a great fit IMO. If it's not a little snug on the initial wear, you probably should've sized down.  Unless you're looking for a loose fit, that is.

Ooops, you are correct. My bad. If it's snug but buttonable I'd say go for the 34. 21oz has plenty of stretch to it!

Correct.  On the 34s I could button the top button.  It was snug, but not painful.  If it stretches one inch it will work for me.  And if after I wash it and it shrinks back to original but then stretches back to the one inch limit after I wear it then I will buy the 34s.  Otherwise I will wait for the 35s.

Hi all, I have another quick question. My current 888s that I have been wearing pretty exclusively for months have developed a rip/split on the inside edge of the back pocket. I thought this was pretty unusual since I don’t keep anything in the back pockets (I can’t take sitting on a wallet anymore). Has anyone else had this/seen this before and should I be concerned about it?

Doesn't really look like much of an issue to me based on those photo's. Based on the first pic it is possible that the constructional stitching has torn a strand of the warp, in which case that can be considered normal wear and tear. The second pic doesn't look unusual for an area where constructional stitching is coming together. It will disrupt and damage the weave by its nature. I can't imagine it will spread based on these pics. @Chesson might be able to shed some more light on it?

Short of running a through hand stitches in the areas that you've shown there is not much that we could suggest. Drop us an email if it gets worse, we may be able to offer a repair at a later date.

Thanks for the reply neph!  The first pic was just to show the location of the "break".  I suspect you are right, the split is right where the stitching is and it is a clean split (does not look like a tear).  I'm sure the thickness of the denim doesn't help in these types of areas.  I think the other pocket has this as well, it just is not as obvious as this one.  I was more concerned if the area will get worse and/or if it needs to be repaired in order to prevent it from spreading.

As a side note, I picked up a pair of the 888S-RE for a good price that I am going to start working on as well!

Hi Chesson, thanks for the reply.  I was just surprised to see this as I do not use the back pockets at all.  I suspect that neph is probably right here because the split is right were the stitching comes through.  I am hoping that this does not get worse as I have put a lot of time into this pair and they are only just starting to really develop some character, haha.
