I understand that the overdyeing process makes this shirt a size smaller than it otherwise would be, which presumably accounts for Sam taking an L instead of the usual M. But then what accounts for Giles taking two sizes larger than Sam rather than the usual one? (I ask because 'one size larger than Giles' seems to be a pretty good rule for me!)

@Yltas I too follow the "one-larger-than-@Giles" rule. We seem to overlap sometimes, though. I have an XXL in this shirt. I'm normally around a 23.2 inches pit to pit and the shirt fits me perfectly. Hope that helps.

Actually @Sam  has been taking L’s for a while now. Too many pies [emoji23]

I believe @Giles (and @Sam, I was only jesting earlier) sizes up in this beacause of the length. It would come up very short on a tall guy. It is worth mentioning that G increasingly wears XL’s also.

Thanks guys, that's really helpful. @Wlemon your pics have been influential in steering me towards this shirt actually!

That's awesome! It's an underated western imo. It seems like there are some core IH products that go under the radar. I think it's because of all the awesome special releases. Anyway, I love this one. Part of me wished I "pimped" it; however, and I can't say for certain, the snaps on my seem different, like they also went through the overdyed process. They have a muted black look to them in person, almost as if they were dark blue. I'll take a picture when I get home.

@neph93 I was feeling outraged by that comment until I noticed I was eating a slice of pizza for breakfast…  😞

For me one of the most underrated pieces of Iron Heart.
Now over 2.5yo but only wore it for about 1 year. I don’t know but I find it hard to combine to a Denim jean so I didn’t wore as much as I wanted to. Now I got the Devils Duck and I will wear the hell out of it. Love the combination of the duck canvas and denim shirt.

Wonderful shirt @Jett129. Did you still take xxl in the OD version?

I can see with that on the way, the gunpowder Copeland was taking a backseat.

I actually got a XXXL and asked for the one with the shortest sleeves. I got the Copeland a few years ago and just never seemed to work it into my wardrobe.

I love this shirt so much that I have it in two sizes now.  One for a slim fit (and thank goodness I am now a bit slimmer, more like my old self) and one for a roomier reach under a jacket (for on the bike).  I think the pitch says that this is an essential piece, and that would not be hyperbole.  IMHO this is core IH and you can't have too much of that.

I generally wear undershirts with my heavy shirts as a matter of taste and comfort. No doubt that body odour will transfer quicker without one. The nice thing is that a washing machine will fix that though. Washing clothes in general is good for that kind if thing.
