That’s a great update. Don’t get caught! [emoji15] Jeans look great.

Very sorry to hear about the MS though. Strangely I have two colleagues who developed it very recently.

Not too personal, just not much to report. Thus far my symptoms have been very mild. I had a hysterectomy in September, and during my recovery from that I was having more dizziness and loss of equilibrium than one would expect from anesthesia. I was also feeling strange on the right side of my body; trouble standing and getting started with walking, muscle weakness, trouble writing. Needless to say, this was scary as shit, so I went to a neurologist. She did an mri on my brain, and lo and behold, there are lesions in there which can be indicative of MS. I have a family history of it, so felt pretty confident accepting that as my diagnosis. I’ve been taking a DMD (disease modifying drug) since January, with minimal side effects. Fortunately, it’s a pill: no injectables or infusions, yet. I have to have my blood tested regularly to make sure the drug doesn’t send me into liver failure.

I feel pretty good, most days. Fatigued and tired, all the time. I do get killer muscle cramps and spasms, and sometimes feel weak or stumble or slur my speech (even when I’m not drinking: fun!). Anyway, I’m taking it day by day. Fortunately Marcia’s job provides us with health insurance, though she’s miserable at it, which is a bummer.

There’s no way of knowing how MS will progress. It effects everyone differently. So far I’m one of the lucky ones!

Thanks for sharing. I’m so glad you have good insurance and that you’re not too heavily affected.

Thanks, everyone! I get scared sometimes, but mostly I’m just staying positive and living my life. No sense in crying until there’s something to cry about—and even then, I am a shed the tears and then move on to the next thing type!

                  Hi Ann,

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. My girlfriend was diagnosed with Ms approx 10yrs ago, you wouldn't know it if you met her but she did suffer from dizziness and fatigue. She never went down the DMD route, as at the time they were only available intravenously and with small children, she thought not a great idea. Last year she decided to look into HSCT and done her research. The pioneering guy is Dr Ruiz in Mexico, long story short, we raised the money and off she went with 10 others from around the world. She was out there a month and last week was her stem cell birthday (thats when you are given back your virgin stem cells to help regrow your new immune system). She feels great, the  and is so grateful to have the oppurtunity to have a crack at halting this horrible disease.

All the best on your journey and please feel free to Pm me.

Wow, @bryaneidins70, I've read a little bit about HSCT, and it sounds very intense.  I'm so glad to hear that your girlfriend is feeling great!  I hope that the she has results from the reset.  Thus far, my symptoms haven't been severe enough for me to consider drastic measures like that, but I will certainly watch the progress of that treatment with great interest.  Thank you for being open to sharing your experience with me, talking to other people about their path with MS has helped give me invaluable perspective.

Mía isn’t feeling good for the past few days, so my wife took her to the vet this morning, after some snuggles. She’s running a fever, but no signs of infection or bacteria, so we just have to wait and see and hope that she feels better, soon.

Marcia and I are both off today, which is rare for use to have the whole day together. We went to lunch at the cafe on the corner up the street from our house.
We’re spending the rest of the day doing stuff around the house, so we went to Lowe’s to investigate various projects we’ve been wanting to start.Marcia rocking her finest athleisure-wear:
We just got home, and now we’ll probably decompress and mess around on the internet until dinner. Or maybe the chores will actually happen? At least we scheduled a date Friday for a flooring guy to come do an estimate on two spots in the house we’re looking to rip up some carpet and lay vinyl.

The tour jeans are so tight, I decided to put back on my sweats. That’s what a day off is for, right?! Or does this belong in unpop ops?

Lazing about the house, today, so not much to report. Our house is from 1903, and we live on the lower level. This is the back: I clipped and repotted some succulents that were getting too tall/floppy for their pots. It’s been raining a lot the past few days, so it’s nice to get a break.

Nice pics Ann. I hate succulents. They sound good enough to eat, look good enough to eat, but you can’t bloody eat them.

I worked some this weekend, and we played some, too. The locker room at work, and a good look at the tour jeans: Then they spent the shift wadded up in my locker, of course: We went to a street music event that Asheville has every summer called Downtown After 5, heard some tunes, and had some drinks. Any excuse to drink outdoors is all right by me: When we got home, Marcia whipped up some amazing sandwiches: Saturday night we had a curry at home (jar sauce and fresh veg, nothing gourmet like some of  y’all out there: Tonight we went out for dinner with my parents, because they’re about to take off on a summer road trip: Fancier than how we eat at home, that’s for sure!

And that’s a pretty good representation of life around here. Mostly food, and some other things if the mood strikes us in between meals.
