Hi everyone; 'Random questions…' seems like the most appropriate place to ask this:

On Wesco lace-up boots, what's origin/function of the fanned leather 'tassle' one sees emerging from beneath the laces? Any relation to the similar-looking things one sees on old-fashioned golf shoes?

Actually, while I'm here, one more: has anyone ever had any bad experiences accidentally dyeing bath enamel by soaking your new strides? I've recently purchased a pair of indigo/indigo 666s, but I'm staying with my sister-in-law for a few weeks and desperate though I am to soak 'em and get on my way, I'm equally keen not redecorate her lovely bathtub… I appreciate I could just use a big bucket or something, but to my mind it just doesn't have the same romance…

Unless the enamel is really old, scoured and matt, then there should be no long lasting staining.  That's why enamel is used for baths and the like.

Kilties are to protect the tongue from getting chewed up by the laces when they are covered in grit, dirt and sand.

Do any of you run into other IH fans in your town? If so, do you give them the ole nudge nudge, wink wink or do you engage them and geek out over their UHF? I have never seen anyone here wearing IH, but then again, i'm a hermit and spend all of my spare time with my boy rather than out socialising at a bar or wherever

I have never, in my town or any other, run into a stranger wearing IH clothes.  The only time I've ever seen anyone in IH gear has been at Self Edge or an IH get together.

I,totally,engage them and geek out. Only seen 3 in NYC,none of which have been forum members. Yes,I asked all of them. They were all cool with it,although a non IH person who I was with one of the times was totally bewildered.
