No major issues with UPS for me. But have to agree that home delivery is not best. EMS seems like a good choice if your changing.

We always use EMS to Russia, Canada and the near Far-East, so we have a pick up every day anyway..

Maybe bad luck, but all three times I've had UPS shipment in Sweden I've got problems. They seems to have a set of lies to use NOT to deliver to ordinary people like they should. Very frustrating and time consuming!
With EMS I have never had any problems, thou. I would prefer EMS, defenitly!

I can only agree with the other swedes. The delivery guys from UPS will say they've tried to drop off the package and that nobody answered the door. Even at times where I've been home the entire day with a dog that barks like crazy as soon as somebody sets foot in the garden. I've got friends who've had the same experience with UPS.
I cant recall ever having EMS deliver me anything though, so I cant say anything about them being better, or worse.

As for Czech Republic and Prague as my location, UPS guys are great. Always call my mobile phone beforehand attempted delivery, willing to solve any and every possible situation, meet elsewhere in town, whatever (one guy is super great, so great, I gave him my homemade marmelades for his kids).
Its quite surprise for me to hear this swedish hassle, everything came to me from Caliroots, SNS via UPS with no problems.
Anyway, EMS is reliable always and everywhere, bonus is Saturday and Sunday delivery in my country.

                Cheers, Martina

why should he scam me?…i´m the one sending the package right!?

Happens all the time Finn. That's a majority of my job. Stolen credit cards are used all the time to order products and ship them anywhere. Africa is a huge scam.

Yeahh… Feck those scammers!! It effects everyone especially those expats who stays or works here in Africa, me included.... :o But for me who ever willing to accept my business gets my money  ::) Thanks G!!

But the reality is scammers are all over.. As long as you do reference check properly it shouldnt be a problem.

Now back to shipping... My experience selling and buying EMS is the best option. The most it takes me 4-7 days max. Cant give verdits on parcel pro ( UK EMS ) as my parcel has yet to arrive.  😢

Is it possible to waive the signature requirement for UPS if we don't mind having the package left @ the door or is that a standard w/ the shipping agreement?  If that isn't possible, can we request it be held @ the UPS facility?  I'm trying to avoid the likely one day delay that will occur when no one is home to accept the package.  Especially if it's on Friday which could turn into a full weekend delay.

We can waive signature, but you need to tell us before we ship (probably best in the comments field when checking out).  And we will not accept responsibility for the package not turning up if no signature is requested.  We are equally happy to send to alternative addresses for our regulars…..

If the package is labeled as a signature required, that can not be waived. You can request the package be held or delivered to an alternate location with the My Choice program. As Giles said, as well, if UPS leaves your package, they are not responsible for it.

Of course, the rules are there for a reason.  I'm no anarchist.  It's just that I live in a pretty quaint neighborhood and my UPS guys is a regular so he just opens up the door and shoves it in there.  It's pretty out of the way.  I just hate rushing home to get there early and missing him by a half hour then having to wait until the next day to get it sorted out.

You could write a letter and leave it on your door explaining that you will take responsibility. Some drivers will take that as a signature. Worth a shot. Leave your name and phone number and tell them to call with questions. If you like far out, trust me, they don't want to come back unless they have to.

Anyone have experience getting a package via Colissimo, the French courier, to the US? Does it get transferred to USPS? I paid like 21 euros for a "registered" parcel so I'm curious what to expect.

I ship some package from France to world in colissimo. Sneakers most of time. Packages weight is between 1.8kg and 3kg when i ship two pairs. Costs are between 38€ and 60€ !!!! It's the economic way yet. You only can track your parcel on colissimo.fr i think. What are the first letters of your tracking number?
