Just to confirm, we do reinforce the belt loop on the 634S — but as Giles has mentioned, this may not have always been the case on older models, so it's still not definitive proof of a fake.

When I started working with Haraki, none of jeans had the belt loops sewn into the waistband. I specified them on all jeans I initiated, but the IH-634S was obviously not one of them. It took a few years to transition to sewn in belt loops on the 634 cut.

This pair has only the back belt loop tucked under. I imagine Haraki did this because he wore a belt whilst on the bike (?)

No, the original IH-634S had none of the bely loops tucked into the waist band. So yours are some sort of anomaly....Hence me asking to see a photo. Yours have obviously had some "work" done to them (patch), so I wanted to see the loop....
