  • RE: IH-526L - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo

@Luijim78 Thanks much for your detailed info as well as the comparison pictures. When I was looking at the sizing between the OD Lefty and the Indigo Lefty, it almost looks like I should go with a size smaller in the Indigo, as even with shrinkage, it's still going to be a bit too big. Unfortunately, the smaller size in the Indigo is sold out, so I waited too long to jump on it. Not the end of the world given I have the LOD, but I've always wanted an Indigo Lefty as well. Think I will sell the Self Edge / Iron Heart collaboration jacket so I have the funds available if the Indigo Lefty becomes available at one of Iron Heart's retail partners.

Anyway, thanks again @Luijim78 for your help!!

@Luijim78 Hey, if you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for your lefty to start showing fades like that? I recently bought the Self Edge / Iron Heart OD collaboration as well as the 526LOD, and I'm trying really hard not to purchase the indigo 526L, but I've wanted one for awhile and the whole FOMO thing is real. The 526LOD is amazing and is a keeper but I'm still really intrigued with the indigo 526L. Really like the electric blue pops on yours.

Resistance was futile on this one even though I recently picked up the Iron Heart x Self Edge collaboration which looks fairly similar. I've wanted a Lefty for so long, and the more I went down the LHT rabbit hole, the OD version seemed to be more in line with what I'm wanting vs. the standard indigo Lefty. Will be interesting to compare this one to the Self Edge collaboration once it gets here.

I soooooooo don't need this jacket given I just picked up the Iron Heart x Self Edge collaboration, yet I've wanted one of these for so long. The two models look very similar, yet the pics of the LOD look like the initial fading areas are more distinct. Can anyone comment on the differences between the two models? I'm totally on the fence.

Going to try the spray method mentioned above on my SEXIH25-TIII - Self Edge x Iron Heart OD jacket...but maybe not today as it's supposed to be close to 100 degrees today. Already feels hot AF and it's still early in the morning!!

@CosmoSix5 Great pictures; the OD looks killer!! I would love to see a comparison between it and the recent Self Edge collaboration jacket that was released as they look fairly similar.

@MSav32323 Nice, that's great to hear!! Mine still hasn't shipped out yet, so I'm living vicariously though you and anyone else who received their OD jacket. It looks like it's the best of all worlds with tons of fading potential. Can't wait for mine to get here!!

Wow, their site must be getting hammered; took forever to process my order. Had to enter, then re-enter it 3 times, and then it took over 30 seconds just to confirm the order. Guess this collaboration is in even higher demand than what was originally thought!!

  • RE: Who Skates?

@SamD I was totally about to pull the trigger on the Loaded Fathom as well, but couldn't really find much in the way of reviews online and subsequently found out about Pantheon Longboards. They're based here in Colorado, so that was a huge plus (support local businesses!!), and once I met their owner, I was completely sold.

The Carver Bing looks like it would be a smooth ride for sure!! What trucks are you using on it, as well as wheels?

As for taking hard slams...I went out today for a planned 2-3 hour session and for whatever reason was totally "off". I had three separate close calls that would've ended badly, so after the third one my inner voice said, "not today" and I ended the session after just 45 minutes. Thankfully I didn't fall, but came really close, and that was enough to end things. Sorry to hear you slammed; that's the worst. The 92mm Karma wheels on the Supersonic seem to handle small rocks and pebbles really well so that's a huge plus. Not sure what wheels you're running on your bing, but maybe they might be an option for you at some point.

Alright, time to barbecue some chicken which was expensive AF!! Things are insane over here and groceries are through the roof (everything is actually). Don't know how this will end but at least I've got my quiver of skateboards and some killer Iron Heart jackets!! Hoping to add a "Lefty" to my collection once it gets released.

Be safe, and cheers to you!!

  • RE: Who Skates?

@SamD I'm an old dude myself, so I totally get what you're saying!! I've had a few times out skating where I ended up "giving blood", and each time I ask myself, "Damn, should I really be doing this at my age??" The answer always ends up being yes because I'm still out there skating!!

So, based on the hybrid feeling that you're looking for, I wholeheartedly recommend the Pantheon Supersonic. It's totally a unicorn as it gives you the best of all worlds IMO. Yesterday as I was skating around the neighborhood with it, I came to a hill that I previously tried to ride down in my Super Surfer surfskate. Big mistake. The ride down this hill on the surfskate was pretty terrifying as I was getting MAJOR speed wobble and really thought things were going to end badly. Luckily I lived to tell the tale, but will not try that again with either of my sufrskates. Despite that crazy experience, yesterday I attempted it with the Supersonic, and ended up just flowing down the hill at a really high speed with absolutely no speed wobble at all. Felt like I was gliding. Once the road flattened out, I then started pumping like I do on my surfskates, and that kept me going for a really long distance before I had to switch to pushing. The point being is that I pretty much had all skating aspects covered with the Supersonic. It was a total rush to smoothly go down that hill and not have the fear of losing control of the board.

The other big plus about the Supersonic is that I got to meet the owner of Pantheon and hang out with him for a few hours. Jeff is one of the coolest dudes ever, and he patiently answered all of my questions and then literally put the Supersonic together for me right before my eyes. Was definitely a great experience and has made me a Pantheon customer for life. Their stuff is pricey, but much like Iron Heart, totally worth it; you really get what you pay for. I hope you get to check one of their boards out at some point!!

  • RE: Who Skates?

    @SamD said in Who Skates?:

@Nostradamion Have you had a chance to try the Yow yet? Love the look of the Pipe (my favourite surfboard I had was a 6'4" retro fish!), but I'm interested in hearing what you think of the Meraki? I've got Carver C7s on both my decks, loosened off for a more surfy feel. I've heard the Yow system is better for this though - wouldn't mind trying one of their bigger Waikiki models 🤔

Hey @SamD , sorry for the late response. Received the Yow Pipe with the Meraki setup, and to be honest, I didn't really like it. Don't get me wrong: the carving on it is super tight, and the "surfy" feeling is definitely there, however if you have to push for any distance, it's really squirrely. I also felt that the usable stance area was a little small for me, and I also missed having more of a concave deck vs. the Pipe's relatively flat shape.

I currently have a Carver Super Surfer with C7 trucks, as well as a Carver Hobo with CX trucks, and between the two I prefer the Hobo. As for the Pipe, I ended up gifting it to my son who really likes it. I grew up watching Gerry Lopez surfing, so the Pipe really appealed to me given it's his design, however for whatever reason, the Meraki just didn't work for me.

As a sidenote, I recently met the owner of Pantheon Longboards, and ended up getting a Pantheon Supersonic. That board is incredible; it's like riding on a magic carpet!! I had never really considered longboarding before, but I'm totally hooked now. I did 5km through my neighborhood yesterday, and it felt like I was gliding. The nice thing about the Pantheon is that you can both push as well as pump, much like a surfskate. Also, because it has bigger wheels, rolling over small rocks and / or road debris isn't an issue at all; you pretty much just keep going and the feeling is amazing!!

Anyway, sorry for the long novel!! I'm headed out for a skate as we speak; cheers!!

@beef_bonanza said in IH-526J-142OD - 14oz Selvedge Denim Modified Type III - Overdyed Indigo:

Thank you guys. @Mizmazzle I can confirm, the nice drapping and how ridiculously soft it is now. It‘s just THE perfect weight for a denim jacket. Funnily enough I got enough comments from non-Iron Heart people how heavy this jacket was😃

Wore my jacket today while running errands today, and had someone stop me at Costco and ask about it. Dude was in total wonderment as to how soft the jacket is, yet he too commented about how heavy it is. I guess when you're used to store brand denim jackets, or even some newer Levis, Iron Heart at 14oz's is still a heavyweight for the uninitiated.

Sidenote, @beef_bonanza your jacket looks killer; I can't believe how blue it is, and the fades are incredible!! Mine is still holding onto it's original solid black color, so I've definitely got much work yet to do with it. Every time I wear it however, I still marvel at just how soft the fabric is; it's literally from a galaxy far, far away!!

@Mizmazzle Yeah, it was pretty crazy; the pit was nuts. We also opened up for a band there called MOD who featured Billy Milano; that was also a great show. Saw sooooo may amazing bands there, including Metallica on the "Ride The Lightning" tour with Cliff Burton. His hair was so long, it was whipping me in the face while he was headbanging!!

I still have my old Vision Rogowski board from waaaay back in the day, and it's pretty much retired. I do surfskate however, and have a Carver Hobo board with CX trucks, as well as a Yow Pipe with Meraki trucks inbound from Spain. Really looking forward to riding that one as I've heard the Meraki trucks mimic the feeling of surfing really well.

@Bridger everyone should see Slayer at least once in their lives. A metal heads Beatles.

A band I was in back in the day opened up for Slayer on their "South Of Heaven" tour at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver. It was nuts.
