@Darth-fader These Shop Vancouver Y2 chore jackets really do a great job creasing, and shrink to fit nicely. If it’s a little loose to start, I think that’s the way to go!

Is it just me, or did this one smell absolutely terrible coming out of the bag?

@BalticBob Depends on the model of the Flat Head. I’d say that the single rider has wider shoulders, a slightly narrower chest, and a narrower waist than the IH equivalent size. The Flat Head Type 2 fits slightly looser in all dimensions. Can’t speak to the J24, but the IH sizing and fit appears much, much looser than the equivalent Flat Head numerical size.

Did you by chance let the washing machine do a spin cycle (after the wash cycle)? This will often lead to vertical fades like you’re seeing. Can also be (slightly) prevented by washing inside-out.

I’d 100% size up and have something that I can actually wear (and will conform to my body), rather than something that’ll look great in pics but can’t practically be worn. Horsehide will crease and ‘shrink’, but won’t stretch and get larger.

Honestly I love the current site; I can’t wait to see an even more improved version of it!

Will this age/darken closer to natural veg-tanned horsehide leather, or will it pretty much continue look how it is out of the box? Thanks!

Just my two cents… I think that this leather jacket is a ‘rest of my life’ sort of piece. I think @Giles had said once that the biggest style mistake he made in his younger years was underestimating how his body would change (for the larger) over time. And that sense, I would probably size up, unless you are fairly confident that your body won’t change too much in the next couple of decades. The horsehide tends to crease and tighten up in areas that you bend, but will not stretch out to accommodate a larger size. And for what it’s worth, it seems that 80% of resellers of leather jackets usually do it because they purchased too small, and the rest because it’s too big.

Thanks! Without hopefully crossing any forum rules, there’s one floating in the ether that the seller states is a sample XXL of the new Pale Rider Blattwerk Horsehide; I was trying to corroborate their story.

Did they make a sample of the new Blattwerk version in XXL at any point?

@Giles What does ‘extant’ mean in the context of IH pieces?

Can this be christened the ‘Snappiversary’ cap?

@Giles @Alex There are many things that make IH fantastic, but among my favorite are the dedication to quality assurance (fabric, stitching, shape, etc) and precision of sizing. What other brands do you both look to as following in the same footsteps at IH; i.e., doing things ‘the right way’? I think @Olly referenced @Alex respecting Freenote Cloth in that manner on a production of the Iron Cast.
