So I'm new to this game, having been a suit since I was 20-some years old. I didn't now anything about UHF or denim till late last year.

Trying to build a wardrobe for the winter seems pretty easy, however I'm curious as to what you people wear when the temperature rises above 20 degrees celcius/70 fahrenheit?

Do you sport shorts and sneaks? Or do you keep your 20+ oz jeans and 10+ oz shirts going through the summers?

Outfit pics are much appreciated for inspiration 🙂

Summer in Northern Norway can be a tepid affair, but the temps do rise. I tend towards 12oz wabash (IH-816) either cut off or rolled up, and with tee's or an IH polo shirt as you can see here:

Sports socks and sneakers for sure, but Norway being Norway, a lighter jacket and more summery boots are also common:

You'll also often find lightweight chambray shirts in the 5oz range which are perfect imho…

This was in New Orleans in October. I think it was around 75F. I'm wearing the 1600 t-shirt and the Loombreakers and I was comfortable even when walking in the sun. If you've never had your hands on the 11oz. cotton shirts, they are one of the most surprising things IH has. Unlike anything you can find on a retail shelf.  Grab some IH t-shirts in any weight and wear jeans until you can't bear it from the heat. then, grab those new IH whipcord shorts and keep the IH train moving.

enjoy the system, its a great one to be a part of.

I don’t do shorts, so my summertime wardrobe consists of either the 777S-142 or the 666S-16 (unfortunately this denim is extinct, it was the most breathable lighter-weight IH denim), and a t-shirt.

Not really helping your case (yet) and not sure if this is blasphemy around here. But I own quite a few raw denims from back when I worked in a clothing store and wide pants were still acceptable as skinny was just an Italian thing..

So what i do is.. Just cut them into shorts. Now I still get to wear old fades from good pants that otherwise get lost in a closet because I'm too insecure to be rocking the wide pants nowadays 😃

Not really a picture kinda guy but found one of last summer when I worked on large urban art project…

Cut offs are great for recycling old pairs. The crew in Gosport will chicken leg a new pair for customers too. Some of the work pants look great as cut offs.

Btw @tjarco  wide legged jeans are still acceptable today as well, I think. Especially if following fashion is not ones thing, no? [emoji6]

                        Haha "chicken leg"

I feel that pants with interesting pocket detailing, on the picture are Atelier La Durance, or Battle Stripes, or interesting selvage detail in hem are extra suited for shorts because you do lose the combs and knee fades that make regular jeans interesting, so kind of compensating with detailing on the shorts. But hey, that's just my opinion…

:-D.. honestly really wide pants are more breezy but otherwise the large amounts of fabric get in the way when skateboarding or cycling, so I prefer tighter cuts altogether also because it's easier to show some nice shoes, funky socks or ankle tats in my case. The wide model is more a fashion fad to me because "relaxed tapered" models are the most practical in any case (besides true workwear with cargopockets and stuff)

Wide jeans a fashion fad? I’m nor sure we are talking about the same thing. I’m thinking about standard relaxed straight jeans like the 634. Based on 1950’s 501’s I’d hardly call it a fad.

But personal preference is king. For my part, I enjoy mixing it up and dislike sticking with one style.

This is OFF TOPIC, not wanting to hijack this thread.

Probably our definitions of Wide are different, and I'm using words like 'fad' while I'm not native English. Looked at 634 sizing, seems about right, i have pants a little wider. Yeah maybe fad wasn't the right word.. but before 2010'sh these models were widely worn (in Europe) than the skinny trend hit and in a couple of years wide models disappeared from shops and the streets. I'm not sure if I remember correctly but I think skinny trend became possible largely due to innovation, before (historically) it was easier and cheaper to make wider pants.. Interesting discussion…

wide pants are definitely more comfortable in summer imho 😃

EDIT; mixing it up, yeah since participating in DWC I love having just 1 pair of jeans to wear everyday. having worked in fashion for 8 years it was such a relief to not have to think about what you gonna wear 😃 denim did make me fashion lazy and way more appreciative for stuff that lasts and builds character..

I don’t  know, you seem pretty a la modé to me  😉

As for «off topic», don’t sweat it. If needs be I can merge this with another thread. But needs don’t be just yet.

My lightweight kit is 10oz chambray and 21oz denim [emoji23] but I definitely recommend a short sleeve shirt. I’ve had this since 2011 and it’s with me ever summer

@neph93 Those cuffed wabash pants looks sweet! Currently pondering on what pants to don if the temps ever rise above 20 degrees here in Copenhagen. The 777s-21 are still necessary to ward off the cold  😛

Forgot about the thread (especially since Danish spring is being it's absolute worst). Dayum - that shirt looks great! Which one is it?
