After receiving a wake up call from a good friend decided to get back in shape and lose weight. I really need to lose a minimum of 50lbs. Any recommendations, encouragement, discipline would be welcomed and appreciated. Thanks again Mike you are a true friend.

That's awesome Jeff! Have you heard of a program called Whole30? It's not a "diet" per se, but will get you into much better habits, and you'll shed some pounds too as an added bonus. It feels great, there's no calorie counting, and there's tons of stuff you can eat (mostly meat and vegetables and fruit). Let me know if this sounds at all appealing and I'll send you some more info. I just did it for the entire month of January, and it was a real eye opener and quite a learning experience.

Beer. Don't drink beer, if you like booze shift to whisky for a bit. And don't get hung up on dieting, exercise is absolutely pivotal, find something you like and lock that motherfucker in to your schedule, don't wimp out if you are feeling tired, just force yourself.
Target a garment that you really want that currently is not viable due to body shape and use this as your reward goal.

Adam believe or not I was vegan for many years, from 20-32 unfortunately I was so thin that I became extremely unhealthy Im 6'3" i weighed 167# and had a 31" waist i looked as i was in a concentration camp I do not have small bones I had 3% body fat. After I stepped away from veganism it was a downward spiral that I havent been able overcome. I have tried to go back but no longer have that crazy discipline now that I know what food other then plants taste like.
