I've begun restoring two old sewing machines that I've had for a while out in the garage. Yesterday, I looked up their serial numbers online to get information for parts. One was manufactured in 1904, the other in 1892. Both still work just fine. I love well made things.

The diving company that @Alex is now part owner of, has won the contract to provide dive 24x7 dive support to the dredging that needs to be undertaken for the arrival of our new 65,000 tonne aircraft carriers…..
Given that Portsmouth dockyards was a major target in WWII, that is likely to mean a shit load of unexploded ordinance to be identified and removed
Now all we need is some planes to put on the feckers.....

What a great week so far: @ROman (was Sam/IH) from North Carolina here yesterday, @Jett129 from New York here today, both lovely guys and we're so delighted and honoured that they made time during their respective visits to come down to Gosport! Giles is currently at the pub with @Cutlasshound and on Saturday we're joining @GingerMagician for birthday celebration drinks in London. And then great news from @Alex today.

Scientists might have found a ringworld orbiting a star 1500 light years away.
OK, it's only a hypothesis, but it's far more interesting than a trail of comets being bumped into orbit around the star by a passing stellar object.
So does @Giles or @Haraki-san hold the rights to sell Iron Heart to extra-terrestrials?

And in other ground-breaking news, it's theorised that the Dutch and Belgians won independence from the Spanish because of beer!
Swinnen suggested that the Low Countries (Holland and Belgium) won their independence from the Spanish because of beer. They financed their armies from beer tax, while the Spanish relied on tax on silver. The beer won.
The last sentence could be @Seul's motto.
