Here in the states "American Workwear" is having a bit of a moment. And raw japanese denim, while not 'American,' definitely harkens back to the era that people are drawing from. However, I'm not sure how far this trend has percolated through the 'big' centers of the US…since I'm stuck in the midwest where Abercrombie, Hollister, and Walmart still hold a lot of sway.
Fine by me...the only issue is now you can find poorly-made fashion items imitating quality-made workwear items. Jeans with fake selvedge sewn on, $20 knockoff service boots, etc.
This moment will end in the big cities in a year or two, will persist in smaller centers for a few years after that, and then it will be gone from the mainstream consciousness.....at least for another decade or so

My wife learned last night that Miuccia Prada, who turned her family's leather goods shop into a worldwide fashion powerhouse, studied to be and worked as a mime. Julie's hatred of mimes is so intense that she now feels ambivalent about ever owning anything from Prada. I consider this a win for me.
