Hey guys, im new to this and humbly need some friendly knowledgeable advice?

I recently got a new tag32, 666 xhs. At the waist its measuring 33.4 inches the IH way, and i thought i would fit into it. And i have a 888 14oz tag 32, measuring literally the same or now slightly larger given i have stretched it and made it comfortable.

My question is, as im struggling to do up the top 2 buttons with the 666xhs, when do you call it quits to say ok, this just isnt fitting because its too small. Or do you keep persisting? I know people joke about losing fingers and nails (or both), but im worried im going to damage the jeans or do something stupid in the process. So im at a cross roads, i could try to sell this and move on, given its in good condition or do i try and stretch it out?

Also a worry is that this is unsoaked as yet. If this was soaked i kind of think i have no chance. But again im new to 25oz, i have only two 14oz IH jeans to compare this to so if anyone would help that would be great! Are you supposed to relatively easily button up?

@cyclops No, they're not easy to button at all... But it gets easier if you persist. How comfortable are they when they are actually buttoned? That should be your indicator, if you can slide two fingers in the waist band when they're on that's normally my sweet spot, I'd rather be comfortable and have slightly more room especially in the 25oz, though.

@Jord thanks hmmm i havent been able to button at all 😲 i have used a shoelace to like help wrench/pull it closer. And was close to thinking about buying one of those hand held devices that old people use to close a button through the loop hahah. But like man its so stiff. Like even with pants off trying to button is a challenging. It has stretched a little since i got it, but like how far should i push it is sort of the question. Definitely wouldnt say 2 fingers slide in. So.....i was thinking maybe preserve it as it stands and selling. But its like giving up on the challenge 😕

@cyclops I think they are too small. The buttons themselves should be pretty difficult from the start but that’s just a spacing issue.

Agreed. Next size up. They won’t stretch enough to be comfortable and you won’t wear them.

The 666 sits lower than the 888 so your hips must be wider making the same size fit differently. My experience with 25 oz has been very little stretch compared to the lighter weights.

As far as difficulty with buttoning, XHS is difficult to button at first due to the thickness and rigidity of the material when new and the hole being tight. It should not be difficult for the button side to reach the hole side. That’s a sizing issue.

@Matt and @daugustway awesome, genuine thanks for the advice! Its good to know what the limits are. Its hard in australia as there arent that many stores to go to try on, so its a bit of a guess trying online etc. So thanks guys!

I actually wore 888 for a while and went back to 666 because I was never comfortable with the way it fit my gut. Everyone’s different. It’s pretty hard using the “measure a pair you own” method when the style and fit are so different among cuts. Good luck.

@Matt haha yeah i know what you mean. Some days the 888 sits well, but in some sitting positions its a challenge. But i love it. I was just trying to explore other cuts but i think i bit off more than i could chew with this 666 and 25oz as well!

The button should meet the hole without too much force or sucking in of the gut. Then it has room to stretch to conform to regular movement. If you need it to stretch just to meet then there’s no stretch left after the button meets the hole and they will always be uncomfortable.

@Matt I'm similar, I've got a lil fupa going on at the moment and the 888 fits perfectly everywhere but the gut... I need a somewhat shorter rise, but the 888 are still awesome.

@Jord thanks for your help too. So thats what i was trying to do with the 888s, trying to find a cut or fit that is similar but without the gut punch...what model do you guys reckon kind of achieves that?

That’s tough. If your belly is in the way but you still want the tapered leg then you may want to check out Self Edge’s 633. The only other tapered fit is the 777 which is not really relaxed at all or the 1955 which is high rise.
