@T4920 is correct in that the original Italian horsehide was not consistent enough, so the Blattwerk was the best alternative we had at the time (for the pale rider). We have since found another leather, which we'll release the details of when we're ready

The devil is in the detail..

I think of this jacket often. I have so many jackets. But this jacket, this would be the last jacket.

We've got a winner! I just love it - thank you @Alex! It's nice not to wrestle with the leather of such a heavy jacket (ie, the old pale rider), and the smell is DIVINE! More to come! No adjustments to the sleeves needed, either, since they'll ride up a bit with some wear. It fits bespoke!

My personal view is that waterproofing is a fairly aggressive way of altering the nature of the leather. If your question was because you were worried about getting the leather wet, then no need to worry, it'll be fine.

Get some Mustang paste or Obenaufs (or similar) then. Anything you use will darken up the leather though, so just be aware of that....

I've worn my Pale Rider in the rain a few times. It's been soaked through more than once. No big deal. It's not meant to ever be a rain jacket, and we all dig patina, right?
