@Mister_Brue Yeah, I am trying to have a bit more of a rotation instead of only wearing the same clothes all of the time. While the latter yields faster results, I have too many nice pieces to not wear them.

Thanks a lot for this. You are correct about the demons whispering in my brain about fits. It happens when I convince myself it's too good to be true. I was admiring the jacket last night and my wife again said, aren't you glad you didn't sell it?

I have Mustang Paste on the way for my jacket. I noticed some areas that are visibly dry. I have not treated this thing at all yet.

For those in the know: any tips with the MP? A nice, even coat I assume, not too thick or thin. May take some time to figure that out...does the leather darken right away? I am nervous and excited about this as I love the color of the leather as it is, but know the MP will bring out golden hues. That sounds wonderful. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. @Mizmazzle @Giles or Pale Rider friends?

@indigostiff I appreciate that. I'm ready for my jacket to darken. I have had this plan in mind since I originally purchased it. I wanted to rock it untreated for as long as possible. Now that the leather looks like ashy skin, it's time. I'm all for it. Kind of like a new jacket afterwards.

@Oaktavia yeah. I’d say if you’ve waited as long as you could possibly wait to condition then go for it. Kinda wish I didn’t treat mine sometimes. But also I remember being ready too when I actually did, but it was a lot sooner than you’ve waited.

A nice light even layer is all ya need. I put it on with my fingers and massaged it in. I used about 3/4 of the jar to complete my jacket. You’re gonna be amazed at how this MP just soaks right in to that leather.

I'd recommend applying this (or similar thick paste and oil) with a latex glove or something on one hand. I've found it really helps get a more even layer across the leather when bare hands aren't involved. Ymmv

As in waited longer to treat it? Or not treated it all? They have to be treated at some point though. Otherwise they won't last and will look like an old forgotten jacket in a thrift store or attic. Maybe that's the idea...

@Oaktavia oh 100% dude. You know when it’s time it’s time. I think that the orangish hue it takes on after treating it is something that I wish had more of a caramel brownish tint. I think I mostly wonder if I’d waited longer and let it untreated if it would have gone more that way. Or it may just be the way this leather is that it will take on that peach / orange tone.

I finally treated my jacket today using Mustang Paste. Phew! That took longer than I expected. All of the creases and stitching really take time to work the paste into. I used the entire jar and was worried it wouldn't be enough. It seemed to be the perfect amount when I was all through. The leather looks better in areas that appeared heavy with patina that gave off almost a greenish hue. This is now muted with the treatment. Looks more distinguished than before.
