But yeah, I think he got most of shrinkage out of it. I did the same with my UHR‘s. Hot soak (agitated
) and 40°C wash afterwards. No further shrinkage beyond that. -
@Slash Looks great and better not go too tight with xhs. Imo you will thank yourself later for the size you chose.

Is there something different with this new batch?
I ask because this is the first time there’s no significant shrinkage. The waist didn’t shrink at all, the leg, knee and opening just barely .25 inches. The only thing that shrunk was the length. From 34.5 to 33.5.
I’ve had a few 25oz from Iron Heart and all of them have shrunk 1 inch everywhere.
Not complaining at all, they are great, just super curious.

@mlx were your other pairs also indigo/black? I find that anything dyed black seems to shrink less then just indigo dyed. Just my experience.

Like I said anyway I could not size down imo, plus I thought a bit about it, and I'm not buying IH for the look only. It plays a part sure, but I mostly buy to also have good, long-lasting products. If the brand keeps chugging along, I'll probably wear it for the rest of my life, if the finance permits
So I can have some semi-mistake regarding the fit along the way
Not sure I'll be as "fit" as now forever.
Plus it's difficult to know how a particular fabric will evolve without trying it.
There will be more 25oz, that's almost sure
Hot days are coming right my way where I am, so this one will be put away for now

The thing about shrinkage is that it is never a constant, there are too many variables. Which is why, Haraki greatly prefers sanforised and one-washed. He hates unpredictability.......

First off, the fabric is amazing, to be sure. Second, what is everyone's experience with the knees of this 25oz IB fabric? I'm trying to determine if the knee measurement is just too small or if it is just the stiffness of the unworn fabric. Do they give a little? Standing straight they are fine, but bending down is quite the challenge and hurts the back of my knees.
I would hate to have to send them back. I was really sad and shocked I missed the 888 25oz IB. I was relying on the video shorts coming out to inform me of what was going to be released and was checking the YT channel frequently, but I don't think they made a video for that release and the 888's were gone by the time I found out.

@tk303. The 555 has the smallest knee measurement from all other cuts per tag size. It will stretch a little but dont expect alot of stretch. If it's really uncomfortable I am sorry to tell you that it will never get really comfortable. You can try the 777's if you like taper cuts. I think thise are coming in a little while.

I was actually looking for a pair of these in the 888 cut for a loosey goosey fit but missed the release. 555 was the next best fit to go with. Waist is 1.5-2 larger than what I normally wear, but the looser top block might be advantageous for a more comfortable fit that I’m looking for with these. Fit pics are dry. Been a while since I last wore xhs. Debating when to start them. Thinking of throwing them in the mix this summer to suffer for 1 or 2 days a week while mostly wearing the 888 142ib’s & duck cargos. -

When Roger Hatt and I can up with the idea for 25oz, we decided not to wash them. And there is no way we will offer the same fabric washed and unwashed, it would be a recipe for confusion (well, I am pretty sure we would not, but it's not my decision any longer).

@Giles i like that decision, just like keeping the lefty as raw. These are already your not basic denim products so I dont mind the added spice.

Inseam 32.5 / 32.3 (stretched when wet)So quite substantial shrinking width wise and almost no shrinking length wise. They came out significantly tighter than pre wash but I managed to stretch the thigh and knee back out almost all the way. And the waist stretched back out too.

@Slash Hey man looks amazing! You will need a little room for the fabric to mold and crease and you really don't want to break in a "skinny" fitting XHS. For me when I startest buying IH even the 555 felt big and not at all super slim because I mostly wore fashion brands with lots of stretch and very slim cuts and now I am looking at my 634 and they look just like a normal straight Cut to me

I also had a "skinny" period, not too many years ago really, same as you with stretchy stuff.
Then I received a Nudie 100% cotton from someone, was hooked on non stretch denim and landed here not too long after
I sometimes wondered if I also will at some point get more comfy cut, but I don't know man, I looked at the other IH cuts and thighs/knee are always way too big for me. I have a wider denim from another brand, and yeah it's really comfortable, but with my "skinny" legs, I really look like I'm going to skate to work

@Slash for me it all started with a pair of Momotaros I got while we were shopping in a town near where my Girlfriend lived back then. I was actually looking for a winter coat but they happened to have a nice selection of selvedge denim and I totally fell in love with the battle stripes and how the fabric felt compared to my jeans. I ended up buying them along with a cool western shirt from Blaumann Jeans and never looked back. Eventually learned about the forum, deepdived all the denim social media and it totally changed my perspective on fits and cuts. It's a great journey.
These are the momotaros after a couple months of wear , I thought these were relaxed back then, today they look almost skinny looking at the pictures.
For comparison my 634xhsib, while there's worlds between the cuts, to me the 634 don't look baggy or relaxed at all.

Got the chance to hot soak (30 min.), machine wash (30min., low spin, tap cold), & air dry today.

@RoxRocks86 Great fit, I normally try "size up" in the 555 for extra thigh room, I also missed out on the 888/634 XHSib drops so maybe need to wait until next time...
I suspect your vans might change colour whilst wearing them!

@Jord thanks! I know most size for thighs. Good to know what measurements work for your body type. Only recently learned about it after gaining some mass in thighs
I typically only need waist measurements to see if the denim fit will “work” and only add thighs if I want a specific fit if the table measurements don’t align with what works for me.
As for the sneakers, love a nice new pair! But honestly not too concerned since they’re a back up pair for work so the little use they get atm is just to break them in. The off white is lovely for the time being

Editing to add - the thighs on these are very loose, even after washing. Overall, the fit is a typical 555 slim fit. Planning to continue wearing this pair even though it’s slimmer than I was hoping. It’s still loose enough to enjoy movement even in the warmest of temps in comparison to my tailored 777’s.
