@SourPower I went in there with a bunch of people who visibly frustrated him by not understanding how to pick a hat that fits. I saw the Gulfport, picked it up and put it on and said “I’ll take this one.” He checked the fit and said “ok this guy knows how to fit a hat.”

Any current members out there wearing a Stetson? My first ever western hat arrived today and is on my front deck waiting for me. I'll post pics later, but I would love to see some photos of y'alls if you have 'em.

I currently own more Resistols, but the Stetson Seminole is the one I wear by far the most often...

Still my first choice for the warmer days: Stetson Emilio!
However, once temperatures hit 20 degrees Celsius, it becomes too warm for me, as the number of ventilation holes is quite limited.

@Oaktavia I have and wear most of the Stetson Royal Deluxe Open Roads and in warmer weather their hemp Open Roads.

I didnt like the flimsy and shiny string thing that came with my hat. So I made a band using 14oz indigo/indigo selvedge.

@jordanscollected heck yeah! When I first came up with the selvedge idea, I thought it might be too on the nose. But once I got it on there, it looked great. I wonder if I'll get any evo on that little strip of denim...

@John-Galt the more I look at Stetsons, the more I love the Open Road model. I’m thinking the 6x in grey or maybe a brown…

@Oaktavia the Open Road works for me - it’s not too western and a classic. The 6X should be more weather resistant than the Royal Deluxe that I wear. I wear the grey the most of all the color variations I have - it blends well with most blues & blacks.

@Oaktavia Open Road is the shit! I wear a vented 10x straw in the summer and have 2 old 6X silver bellys I love, like John said best of both worlds not too western and classic!

@Oaktavia the Royal Deluxe has more give whereas the 6X is more firm and rigid on your head. There are some other slight material differences also. The more give of the royal fits my head profile better than the 6X. However, I’m considering getting one 6X for those wet weather days since they hold up in inclement weather better than the royal.

@John-Galt ah, okay that is what I thought you were going to say. So I may just start with a Royal Deluxe if it has more give. The Hardrock hat I just bought was pretty rigid and is just now starting to conform to my head shape. I have a long oval shape, hoping the Open Road is OK for that.

@Oaktavia fyi that our head profiles are somewhat similar - your’s may be taller - and I find it looks good with the aerodynamic head profile.

@Oaktavia you may want to look at Resistol hats as they are designed more to your described head shape.

You may not know, but Stetson are designed for round oval head shapes, and Resistol are designed for long oval.
