I might throw mine up on ebay if the IH CPO dobby fits me well. Although, I really like the Townes and may just get it hemmed.

@nixage Hemmed my indigo and black sashiko-ori shirts. Really happy with how they turned out.

@talexander Can you tell me where? I'm okay with shipping it.

Just at my local tailor in Des Moines, IA. I wrote Ship John before I did my first one. They said to wash it and let it dry first and the fabric is much easier to sew. They thought any tailor should be able to do it. I believe @hgering27 did as well. He may have someone he suggest. He gave much more detail about his tailoring than I could.

I have the black Sashiko Ori Townes and the 437 CPO. I passed on the indigo Sashiko when a forum member was nice enough to offer me one he had picked up on the last drop. A boot/clothing buddy sent me the link yesterday when it dropped again, passed again.

Part of me really wanted to buy it, but I’ve heard the black and indigo look very similar color wise in person. Plus I’m trying to keep overlap to a minimum in my wardrobe.

Either way you can’t go wrong.

@nixage you might reach out to Railcar Fine Goods. They should be able to assist you in making the alterations.

@Chibs Pretty sure that the shirts are made from this material: https://bansyo-fabric.com/products/sashiko-fabric-by-the-yard-kendo-fabric-sashi-ori-alternative-version-sashiko-weave?variant=43694665859355

@northsouthdenimguy while both dark, I certainly feel they are far enough a part to warrant buying both if a person wanted to. For an Iron Heart comparison I'd say it's like SBG vs. IB. I think the black will end up a smoky Grey and well we've all seen how Mike's indigo version turned out.1000009728.jpg

@NomadCrow thanks for sharing. It’s interesting that listing describes it as “Kendo” fabric. I took Kendo at one point and remember that stuff. Had no idea what sashiko was back then.
When I converted that fabrics weight I think Ship John’s is a bit burlier

@nixage I did my black one at railcar and my indigo one is there now. They did a great job. Kept the same pattern and I asked them to retape the underside of the hem also and it looks just like it did when it came from ship john originally. Highly recommend you reach out to them

Had my indigo hemmed at Silhouette Tailoring in Portland. They did a great job.

Was able to shrink using hot soak and dry in the sun. Got it fitting pretty perfect through chest and arms. Length was alright but I wanted it a bit shorter and didn’t want to risk over shrinking chest and arms.

Received my 2XL indigo. Was big as well. Inside out 40celsius wash and tumble dryer. Perfect afterwards. It has still got some length to it so I understand people considering a tailor. For me it has the length of my SP-Large CPOs so I will just rock it as is. Maybe some future washes will have a positive effect on it too. Very happy!
