Got this apron for my dad for his 70th birthday when visiting Japan earlier this year. He loves it. Such a badass apron

I (wrongly) decided to size up one from my typical Iron Heart size — I’m 5’ 10”, 165 pounds, and have a 39 inch chest and went with an XL instead of an L. Because this fits way more like a jacket than a shirt, I just ordered a Large.

I absolutely love the material on this shirt though — by far my favorite that Iron Heart has produced!

@Boit I recall seeing someone say on the Snap Upgrades thread that their copper snaps sounded like a rain stick lol. I had a similar issue with my Wabash shirt, but Graham had me send it in to reinstall the snaps — turns out they were just not originally installed with enough tension.

@Chibs @rahrah12 Sashiko-ori fabric is also made on a loom. It is just done in a manner to replicate the hand-stitched look from a traditional Sashiko weave. Ship John uses the term Sashiko-ori, which appears to be technically correct. Whereas other clothing manufacturers who use Sashiko-ori fabrics just call it by the short hand “Sashiko”

@Chibs Haha oh no! Looking back, my response could have been clearer. I just meant that Sashiko-ori is just a particular kind of pattern woven on a dobby loom

    • RE: Ship John

@Chibs I believe that’s right. My understanding (although others should correct me if I’m mistaken) is that Sashiko-ori is just a specific kind of fabric/pattern of weave woven on a dobby loom. So whereas all Sashiko-ori fabrics are also technically dobby fabrics, not all dobby fabrics are Sashiko-ori

@FlavourFade same here! Looks like it’s a variation of the leather patched used on the 14oz denim, but we shall have to wait and see!

@goosehd @Jord thank you guys so much! That’s really helpful. I got them from Withered Fig so I’ll have to pay to send them in for hemming either way. But it’s good to know that it’s fine to shrink them before a hem to nail down the best length. Looking forward to these bad boys!

Just picked up a pair of these! To all the UHR veterans out there, do you recommend hemming these before or after the initial soak and wash?

(Apologies if this has been discussed before— I couldn’t find any comments on it!)
