YeH, I saw a Red Wing resole with it and didn’t care for it - but in the IHUK job masters and some Viberg models I love it.

Thank you for your insights!  Still not my cup of tea, but function does trump form.

I’d rather have something beautiful but useless than fugly and useful. But ideally I’d like something that finds the golden path of balancing both. Those soles aren’t that for me.

You're missing the opportunity to wear boots that are even uglier than ones with a Christy sole.

No problem @Sam …. it seems the forum members know what trousers you wear and they quickly answered my question. Which should be alarming but afterall this forum is mainly about pants lol

Here's a stupid question:  Is the Christy sole the Vibram 1010 Armortread or is it a different sole model?  4014?  What there a difference between the 1010 and the 4014?

For the record, I like the Gloxi-Cut sole…

                        ^yeah Gloxi-Cut for life.

FWIW the 4041 is the traditional “Christy” but I think people lump all foam based soles into the Christy category.

I have the 2021 on two pairs of boots and prefer it in almost all ways…

The 2021 is my favorite sole so far. My boots with that sole are the only ones I wear on City trips where I go Sightseeing all day Long. If the gloxicut performs as well with more traction I'm super happy.

And - probably a very unpouplar opinion - I think boots with high heelstacks look much worse.

Ok, so my IH 62 indigo wabash needs a wash.. are there any precautions I need to take? Concerns about streaks? Should I presoak and use a front loading machine? Spin no spin? Dryer or hang to dry?

I always just turn it inside-out, and chuck it in the top-loader we have at home, warm water, regular cycle with spin. Then I tumble dry it, hot.  Of course, I wasn't at all worried about shrinkage, and I did get some the first couple times.  No weird streaks or anything, though.

Alex, if I’m looking for a little shrink can I increase the temp of the water? Or do u advise against that?

I’ve blasted some of my wabash on 90C with 800rpm to get max shrinkage. It doesn’t shrink quite as much as UHR for example but it’s quite effective.

I’d say wash at 40C and see how you feel. If there isn’t enough action go to 60. One thing, washing will accelerate wear on exposed areas (collar, cuffs, hems, hemmed corners etc.).
