      @Chris:

I've had similar mishaps, from both ends of my children, though happily, not both ends or both children at the same time.  Iron Heart, Studio d'Artisan, and Oni jeans have all survived infant attacks.

@Chris and @YesBlank, ah yes, the diaper mishap. I had my old PBJs hit with a diaper blowout when my older daughter was a baby. I remember my wife wondering why I ran off to the washing machine so quickly that day. Good times…

Thanks @Matty123 and @Neph93, that's a relief. I did forget to mention that I used a bit of Dr. Bronner's soap in the wash, hopefully that doesn't "set the dye" like what it says all over the web.

I'll never understand what this "set the dye" thing is about soaking/washing.  The faded pair are the 25oz fabric, that have seen 25-30 soaks.

Certain people believe there are things u can do to raw denim that will inhibit fading.

I don’t know about setting the dye through soaking and washing. As I stated that isn’t a problem.i know soaking and washing  helps Set the stitching of raw loomrate denim.

          Maybe so. Maybe not

There are all sorts of crazy myths on the internet. I'm pretty sure there's nothing you can do to stop indigo dyed fabric from fading besides leave it in a dark closet and never wear it.

Besides, the point of this contest is to wear and care for your jeans in your usual manner and then see what they look like after two years.  The individuality of each pair, in spite of whether the owner did things "right" or "wrong", is what makes it all interesting.

The only way we know how to inhibit fading, is some seriously sexy (and no, we won't tell you what it is) treatment we give the denim before making garments.

Any other suggestion is as Chris would say, an internet myth.  Or as I would say, complete bollocks….

Day three on the jeans, one soak, and they feel fine.

                  Ohhhhhh that constitutional stitching!

Soaked the replacement pair last night and they shrank more in the hem! Woo. This pair was WAY more responsive to the 2 hot soaks I did.

I know I'm going to be in the minority on this, but so far I've been underwhelmed by these jeans!
Which is a real shame as I was really looking forward to receiving my pair.
I have reasonably large thighs myself and had hoped from the measurements that these were going to be a great cut for me. What I've found however, is that they seem to have an accentuated hip measurement, which seems a bit odd to me. They seem to cinch in at the waist and come out at the hips, as if they were cut more for a woman.
I've been wearing them this weekend after having soaked and washed them four times now, to try and get all the shrink out. The waist shrinks so that i cant do them up, but soons stretches out, so maybe i could have squeezed into a pair of 36" instead of my usual 38".
So far though I much prefer my 38" 21oz 634S for feeling the right fit.
I shall persevere with them, in the hope that things improve.

Don't hate me if you love this cut in this denim, it's just my observations so far. 😢

No hate, honest observations are welcome. Thing is, different cuts work in different ways on different bodies and not everyone can wear every cut. Personally, i love the top block on the 666 and 634, but the straight leg isn’t the best for my (ahem) chunkiness. The taper on the 555 is brilliant, but the top block tends to be a bit ragged. I haven’t even tried the 777 because I’m fairly sure my afrobutt won’t get on with the low rise. The 888 is good for me though.

I’ve tried the 888 in the 21oz and have the UHR inbound. My thinking is, you can definitely size down as the high rise means the waistband hits at a slimmer part of the torso (on many).

This. I went with a 36 only because of my thunder thighs and booty. If not for them I could have EASILY sized down to 35.

I agree with @neph93  I started out wearing 633 and 634 that I got from Self Edge. I always felt that I was yanking the waist up on these. Then I found this site and have found that the 1955 UHR, 1955 S, IHXBO1 UHR, and now the 888 S and UHR fit me the best.

I’ll reserve judgement for when I get then back but I’m feeling optimistic about the  fit once they stretch back  outa littlet. My size 42 634s are almost unwearable at this point due to weight loss. And most likely unsellable due to waist/hen length 42/28.5…. I’m still Wearing my Pronto 25 II.
