i was hoping to be posting in the red wings thread tonight as well as the recent purchases thread with my first pair of red wings with the grand opening of the new store in Kitchener Ontario.
but they didn't have my number 1 or 2 choice in stock yet

Bloody postman said they attempted to deliver my 316 shirt but I was home all day and there was no knock at the door or slip to say they missed me.

Apparently some guy got into some trouble a couple og thousand years ago and as a result everything in Norway closes for a week once a year. And I always bloody forget.

@neph93 In Germany we call it Tanzverbot (dancing ban). One of the many privileges the Catholic and Lutheran churches still enjoy here, although it varies between states

I always like this week. One of my annual highlights. But here shops are only closed friday, sunday and monday.

@Tago-Mago that same dancing ban was still in effect when I moved here, as was any form of card-playing. It’s gone now as things relax a bit. But the whole separation of church and state takes time, it would seem.

Having walked around town in the sunshine all day (without being able to buy a coffee), I’ll downgrade this rant to a moan. Some cafe’s and restaurants are opening at 3pm. Although only the small ones run by immigrants. Multiculturalism for the win.

@endo it has its good sides for sure. It’s beautifully quiet around town as anyone with access to a cabin (most ethnic Norwegians) is there. It also usually coincides with the first period of warmer weather (3-10C), and the days are already decently long. The cultural/historical hangover is a massive PITA though.

Mentally it‘s the end of winter, irrespective of the actual temperature or what‘s still coming.
