The stand-up beanie!
Knit by hand on a small circular loom. This is a really difficult painstaking and time consuming process with yarn this thick. It is a mighty pain in the arse to make, but it makes a seriously tough, warm, and rugged hat thats built to last a lifetime and beyond!

I did something just for fun to match my IHSW-10 sweatshirt and thought it might interest my fellow forum goers…
Had a hat made from thick chunky long staple cotton yarn knit by hand on a small circular hat loom (no side seems). Had it rough washed and boiled with onion skins for authentic natural aged look. Than brushed the inside with a brass brush until sweatshirt-like fuzziness appeared. Now it almost perfectly matches the IHSW-10 sweatshirt and paired with the sweat is now my favorite garb for evening walks and cold days. Thinking maybe to also indigo dip if I can get a hold of the indigo…

For me in the winter nothing, and I mean nothing beats my Stormy Kromer. There are pics of me wearing one in the 666xhs thread, so I'll steer from that. If you like history of a garment, this one has it in spades, as George "Stormy" Kromer was a badass who's wife created one of the most truly functional winter hats I have ever owned, all based on the rigors George put it through. Given that these are made upstate from me is a bonus.
