Just got these bad boys back from Brian. Engineers with russet brown CXL horsehide, 1945 Last, woodsman 1.87 inch heel, unstructured toe box, dark brown edges, brown cork halfsole, storm welt and toe track. I am a happy camper.

Sizing = Based on measurements I ordered a full size down from my brannock. Fit is perfect.

                                    Engineer boot questions:

1: Do you undo instep strap before putting on?

2: Do you use plastic bags to slip on?

3: If no to question #2, Do you have issues removing boots do to moisture inside boot and socks?

                                    I am a yes to 1 & 2.

@Tyler-Durden I don't have Engineers from Role Club, but do have quite a few engineers from Wesco.

My answer to all of your questions is no and it sounds like your boots may be too small. From my understanding, engineers are supposed to fit slightly big from the start and form to your foot with wear. Heel slippage in the beginning is good and disappears when the sole flexes and the heel cup forms to your foot.

I may have this wrong though...

I'm a yes, no, no. Mine fit better if I cinch the strap one position further from the neutral position. Heel slip is a good thing but I like a snug fit over the top of my foot

Speaking generically about engineers, I definitely undo and redo vamp buckles putting boots on and off. Heel slip is fine but dissipates as mentioned.

Sometimes it may make sense to size up and insert an insole.

                                            1. Sometimes
                                            2. No
                                            3. No

But that doesn't really tell the full story, there's a few different factors at play. Sizing is one factor and on engineers it's tough to get 'perfect', if they fit nice and snug with no slip off the bat then after a days wear when your feet are hot, sweaty and swollen they might be very tight to get off again. It's why I normally tell people not worry too much about a little slip when they first buy a pair (so long as it'd not too extreme).

There's also material, I have no experience with Role Club personally but whether they are lined or unlined or just the texture inside can make them more 'grippy' and therefore difficult to take on and off.

Boot 'style' or Last also makes a difference Eg. MrLous are quite slim for an engineer boot so can make them a little harder to get on and off (and so unbuckling that instep strap might be necessary) but you get a slimmer look and a little less heel slip off the bat compared to the Boss engineers which are a little more generous making them dead easy to slip on and off and are more roomy but you might get a bit more slip and you get a 'chunkier' look.
