Thanks Snowy and Engineer. I was able to use both toys today and had great results. I think I still prefer a V60 for a single cup, but now have a means of pouring a couple at a time [emoji106]
JCM, the grinder is awesome but there is definitely a little learning curve to to it to getting the perfect consistency.

Yeah the Chemex is a very different taste/profile to V60. Chemex is a lighter/less bodied cup. It often gets called a 'cleaner' cup. Less oils make it through, what you're really left with is the taste of the beans without any of the other influences that can help mask or bring flavours out. If I drink the same beans in V60 and Chemex I get 2 totally different views on the same bean. Some work better in 1 brew method vs another. Kenyan coffees (going from memory here) are usually heavy bodied and don't translate as well on Chemex for instance…

The Miniature Collection is for Espresso?? 😃

The V60 is so easy to use and the coffee is great.

I still need some practice with the Aeropress, but the third try (right now) is pretty good and tastes similar to the Bialetti.

How I used the Aeropress (Inverted):
15g strong Espresso (Schwarzmahler - Heimat) grade 3 on the Skerton Mill + 200g 90C water.

Placed the coffee in the inverted Aeropress, added 50g Water, stir and let bloom for 30 seconds.

Added the rest of the water, waited 1 minute and then press slowly and gently.

              Enjoy.

Add another 200g Water for Americano/Long Black.

Coffee is a complete fucking mystery to me.  I can go miles out of my way to have a coffee at a highly recommended hipster joint or have coffee made with all the paraphernalia @finn is buying and had the brew timed to the nano-bleeding-second and the water heated to the correct temperature (to 76 decimal places) by the guy making it with his iphone.  And it still just tastes like a good drinkable coffee to me.

Luckily my lack of sophistication (hipness?) in this regard is also so the same with wine.  And that DOES save me a fucking fortune….

Will def carry my coffee stuff to Berlin and Hamburg in July… Gimmie hot water and enjoy 🙂

nice haul @JCMx800. V60 is great, I agree. Funny you had more troubles with Aero than v60, most are the other way around. Straight into inversion on the Aero, way to go!

@Snowy  I knew the V60 from a very nice and local coffeeshop (V17, Deisterstr., Hannover, Germany) and asked em if the can introduce me. The dude was kind enough to show me how to handle the V60, but I never saw the Aeropress in real life action 😃

Snowy (;)), what is the blue ceramic by Kalita? I cant seem to find it anywhere. Did you see their Kantan portable pour over filters? They look perfect for a mini travel kit.

@Anesthetist found it. Took some searching to find :). https://favrica.net/items/7404462 It's a Kalita x Beams (B:Ming) x Hasami colab, in true 'cool'/Beams style (the colab bit). It's very practical for me. Means I'm no longer leaving the wave on the sink to drip. Now goes in this little number.  [ http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/dietshop/item/1048623/?s-id=borderless_recommend_item_en is the non-beams edition] [ http://www.bminglifestore.jp/catalog/2016ss/happygoods/detail/28 is the full B:Ming colab view].

(PS I changed my name to Snowy in both your recent edits, hope you don't mind. Still trying to keep my 'real name' offline ;))

The Wave Kettle above (silver thing in my post) is pretty nice. The water flow/spout is very interesting, taking some getting used to. It can be slower/finer than the Harios or really open up into this crazy flooding beast. I was a little behind on my pour today and opened it up in the last 10 seconds to hit the ml/sec mark. Not something I've been able to do prior. Very different hand feel, but getting used to it, it feels good/right too :).

Cheers, as do I. The logo is really understated. Lots of white space around a blue circle. Beams launched the line "Beams Japan" a few weeks ago. Very nice physical shop in Shinjuku, think the products are online as well. Very restrained execution across the board in that shop.

Snowy I just bought an Able kone to use in my V60, curious to see how the coffee tastes in comparison to paper filters. Also like the idea of not having to keep buying filters.

It's a fuller cup, more acids/oils in the cup. I enjoyed it w/ the v60, was just a little more annoying to clean. Not having to buy filters is nice - agree. Says he who's now using filters 7 days a week; aero@work, kalita@home-weekday, chemex@home-weekend ::)
