GORUCK Challenge
-
Today was a rest day, but because I'm bouncing off the walls from all of this Paleo energy, I decided to do the best rucking I could with the tools available at my disposal. I figured this would be "low impact."
I wrapped a 25lb. kettlebell in a towel; threw it in a backpack; cinched it tight; and headed out for a 4 mile trek.
Two miles in, I was golden – still energetic.
Three miles in, I was tiring -- but still feeling great.
By four miles, my shoulders, neck, and the muscles on the top/back of my skull were on fire. My pack was not built to support a kettlebell. Then again, I'm guessing few, if any, are.
Needless to say, not the best idea I've ever had. I'm no longer bouncing off the walls, though. George W. Mission Accomplished.

Good to know I have got completely used to the 6 bricks that I don't know they are even there anymore. Was thinking about throwing a 12kg bell in the pack along with the bricks. Thanks for deterring me.

Just ordered a 16kg bell. Time to become a man.
Let me know when you need to borrow my 32kg

In due time my friend

Just completed my 1st level 2 intervals

Thanks for the reply d666, I'll be back at some point
Research shows not waterproof, whilst it might be okay & close to it in general, the risk of a few thousand dollars makes this a no for me;

^I think this is a good idea. I planned on incorporating this into my regimen, as well.
Today's a rest day. Paleo is going great. My energy is through the roof. I haven't had any difficulty with the transition because I've always maintained a pretty disciplined diet. I have noticed, however, that my food budget has escalated, dramatically. Well worth it, though.
-
My food budget actually dropped dramatically because I used to eat out every night
-
That's awesome. Win - win. Yeah, eating out everyday takes it's toll on your wallet, and your waistband. An unexpected benefit of Paleo is it takes me significantly less time to prepare a meal. I used to have to wait for the brown rice to soak & steam. Beans to slow cook. Tofu to saute. Now, I just wash some greens. Chop and lightly saute some veggies (which is the same as before). And grill or sear some meat or fish. It's great. Less dishes, too. Haha.

Here's a good Paleo link that's a full-time job/company from a friend of a friend, some good 'stuff' on there;

Great day hiking yesterday up at Rickkets Glen State Park www.rickettsglen.org. Some really intense waterfall hiking. Not having bricks in my pack was a wonderful thing. Felt like I could have gone on forever.
