Iron Heart Ski Meeting 2027
-
Back in 2016 I posted this in a Ski thread:
“There are many reasons to ski the Alps. They are so big. Where to go?
Logistical reasons, the value of money, best rides ever, the highest mountains etc.
I recommend St. Anton (Austria). It is in the central Alps, not far away from Switzerland, Italy and Germany.

“@Giles said in The Iron Heart Baltimore Bash - September 18, 19 & 20, 2026:
Party in UK, party in Japan......Dates TBC
Can we change the name of this thread into
“Iron Heart Ski Meeting 2027” ?There is a chance we could all ride some powder slopes on whatever in Japan, if the timeline fits.

My two cents is that France is far more affordable than Switzerland and Austria.
Val Thorens is a good option for higher alt and snow quality and enough pubs and restaurant options for a resort town.
Chamonix is always a safe bet. It is a proper town with a standing 20k population with supermarkets affordable restaurants and bars, heaps of options for food, drink and non-skiing options. Four ski resorts accessible from the town plus Vallée Blanche. It's pretty stunning.
Tignes is on the other side of Val d'isere, both resorts are accessible by (a crazy) lift. Tignes is considered more French, has great ski in ski out accommodation, good choice of restaurants and more civilised than a bunch of teenage Brits dancing on table tops in Val d'isere.

@Aetas I am a little unclear on the purpose of this thread. Are you arranging a sanctioned IH ski party in 2027? Are you seeking interest to see if a IH Ski party is feasible and arranging thereafter? Are you planning this yourself or with the IHUK/IHG crew?
Can you expand a little on the intent of this please? It would be helpful to everyone reading and who may be potentially interested.
Thank you.

This new thread started in 2015 with the idea, to meet in the Alps.
Then Giles posted the IH party plans for 2027.
Thought it could be an idea, to bring Japanese slopes and the party together. Unfortunately October is the offseason in Japan. Will be a busy year, but there is a small chance for me, to visit the Arlberg at the carnival weekend 7-8.February.2027
Iron Heart Snowflake Meeting Arlberg/Stuben Carnival 2027
… is the first sign of an idea.
Let’s see where this path will lead us.
