The 17oz duck IH-2526J was my gateway. Still my favorite, I’d say!

My first IH jacket was the 526J-142 as well, just a year ago. Week or so after was the untucked brown CPO and it’s been quite a few since then. Love every piece I’ve acquired since then. I Was aware of iron heart back in the Sufu days but just rolled with APCs. Would trade in my beat up pair for half of new for like decade,( butler program) pair of diors back then as well. Then few pairs of Taylor stitches, with APC in rotation till 2020. Took a break from denim(baggy cargos) few years and sugar canes got me back in, and then IH got me hooked.

@ÆRϺΔΚ That's part of the fun 😉 You can always check if it's in stock before going there... but you live in Amsterdam? Worth the travel up there, one day 🙂

@ÆRϺΔΚ I’m jealous you live so close to arberator- great shop and Haarlem is a cool little town. I think it’s kinda neat he only sells in person and avoids e-commerce. Enjoy!

My gateway into IH was a 33B. I remember wanting a denim shirt and at the time was wearing tellason as my entry into the denim game. I looked at lots of other brands, but the cut and styling of the Iron Heart western shirt was unparalleled to anything else. I hemmed and hawed at the price for about 3 months. Then like magic a single size large came in stock at IHUK and I jumped on it. My most storied IH piece still to this day.

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

My way in was a bit - winding. At the first Covid lockdown I somehow realized, that:

                    1. I spend no money.
                    2. There were a lot of online sales going on.

That led me to decide, that it was about time I upped my work wardrobe. I live I Denmark, where there are few limitations to what you can wear at work, and on top of that I was working back-office, and hardly ever met anybody from outside the organisation, so I'd gone quite relaxed, and almost only wore black shirts or sweaters, and jeans. So I decided to get something a bit more varied and colorful for work. I also decided that I'd be picky and by quality stuff - being in lockdown I wasn't in a hurry.

Then in the summer of 2020 I got a new job, higher salary, and less back office. And I decided to expand my wardrobe following the principles about color and quality. Work clothes were easy enough, but finding shoes and a bag led me to Brund in Copenhagen. At the time they sold a few Loake Shoes (Loakes good lines, the Goodyear-welded ones made ind England, as well as Filson bags.

And it was when browsing Brunds website that I came across Iron Heart jeans as well. And wondered if a pair of jeans twice as expensive as any I'd owned before could be worth it?

So eventually I gave it a go and went to the shop to try out different cuts and sizes - and ended up in a pair of 21 ounce 777s.

So I guess my gateway were dress shirts, Filson bags and goodyear welted Chelsea boots....

My first IH was 777S-21 from Self edge. Then down the rabbit hole from there. Before that I tried cheaper selvege--bravestar, unbranded, Gustin, Filson, and momotaro (which I loved the denim, hated the pink inseam and the cut wasn't for me). My first step into "nicer clothing" was PNW boots (for work in wildland fire), then some technical clothing (base layers, rain jackets, puffs) related to using for that line of work, then Filson.

For me, Freenote Cloth specifically the RJ-2 jacket was really the gateway to IH. Until owning them, I had never worn clothing that fit as well as Freenote. Once I started collecting their western shirts, it opened my mind to trying the Yellow and Brown “Wyoming” UHF at Berkeley Supply (which had I had previously disqualified for the price point).

Once I tried that shirt on it was game over for me. Between the nostalgic University of Wyoming color scheme and its exceptional quality and comfort, I quickly opened my mind to the IH way…
