SEXIH25-CPO - Self Edge x Iron Heart 19oz Denim CPO Shirt

@Mister_Brue I appreicate the feedback. I think you might’ve swayed me towards the OD CPO. I guess it’ll be a game time decision once I see it at the release party.
@flannel-slut thanks for being the voice of reason. I’ll stick with the indigo 633 and OD CPO. I’ll hold off for something else down the road. I’m currently eyeing that IB CPO, but there’s no timeframe on when it’ll be returning.

The OD is reactive dyed black. Glad that was pointed out on the FB group.
-
@CosmoSix5 AFAIK, this is “direct dyed”…which replaces the sulphur dye method (that isn’t eco friendly)…and is something different than the “reactive dye” method used to create colorfastness in some of IH offerings.
-
@Boit SE specifically calls it reactive dyed on their site. Garment Dyed Black (reactive dyed)
-
@CosmoSix5 Good observation. I recall seeing some conflicting statements on the SE pages in past releases. I wonder if this is true as IHUK talked previously about these being "direct dyed"...maybe @kiya or @ShopatIronHeart can verify this for us?

This has been discussed on these threads already, as pointed out

@Mizmazzle As @alex mentioned, we’re hoping to expand our buying guides and blog posts as we continue to develop the new site — and a deep dive into our overdyeing processes is already on the list!
To summarise for now, the switch to a direct dye wasn’t made to intentionally alter the appearance of the denim or how it fades, but rather as an eco-conscious move to reduce our use of more hazardous sulphur dyes. As far as we’re aware, the actual garment dyeing process is very similar, meaning it still removes all potential shrinkage.
Unfortunately, we haven’t been using the new technique long enough to see conclusive fade results, but Haraki-san has advised that the direct dye will be a little more colourfast. Here’s a comparison, with the 21oz direct overdyed denim at the top and the 14oz sulphur-dyed at the bottom:
As you can see, the direct dye will definitely still fade (as it’s already showing variations in tone), but the main difference is how it affects the hardware. The sulphur dye oxidises and tarnishes the rivets and tack button, whereas with the direct dye, the metal remains shiny and new. Hope that's helpful!

@Alex Thanks for the clarification. That’s what I remember reading. The confusion was due to typo on the Self Edge site:

This wasn't a typo.. we were told by Iron Heart they were reactive dyed. We've now changed our product page specs as they've clarified they will fade over time.
-
@kiya No worries. And thanks for circling back.

Yeah sorry for confusion. At some point we trialled a reactive OD process, used on some shirts IIRC, and when we were sampling these I thought the same process was used, things changed and somewhere in the ether the dots were not connected
-
Should make a thread detailing the new OD method? so we know what we're getting into and what to generally expect.
-
@CosmoSix5 if you read about 4 posts above Alex talks about doing just that...on the long list of things.
-
Wasn’t really interested in this as waiting for the ib restock but just looked at the OD and it looks awesome though the chest sizing looks off. I would have to jump from XL to XXXL to get same chest and then the shoulders and sleeve would be way out.
-
@Alex I got to try on the CPO in the OD last week (on the DL) and it is the greatest thing I've donned. Can't wait to own one!
-
@Gavin666 yeah but if I'm not mistaken the OD fabric will stretch out closer to its pre-dyed measurements. Can anyone else chime in?
-
@fuzzybunnies, *can stretch out.
If the denim isn’t stressed it won’t change dimensionally. That’s obvious. But practically, I wouldn't assume that, for example, the shirt will get longer from normal wear. -
@Gavin666 I have been trying to figure out the sizing myself (I am interested in the indigo version) and compared Self Edge's measurements on the 292 to the collab cpo. For my size range they are pretty close to each other yet different than the measurements on the Iron Heart site. Based on the different measurements I would guess that a medium in the indigo version would fit similar to a medium in the 292 on me (i.e. as a shacket rather than a shirt).
I think for the best guess, find your size in the 293OD on the Iron Heart site and then see how Self Edge's measurements for the 293OD and the SEXIH25-CPOOD compare. I bought the 293OD in a large as I wanted to wear it as a shacket and based on Self Edge's measurements I would buy the same size in the SEXIH25-CPOOD for the same fit.
I hope this makes sense as I know my explanation is a bit convoluted. Not fool proof by any means but probably a good enough guide assuming that Self Edge's measurements for both the 293OD and the SEXIH25-CPOOD are consistent across those pieces.
