Really starting to get into this bottle of Blue Spot Irish Whiskey. The nose reminded me of the Rick houses when I did the Bourbon Trail. Not surprising as it’s been aged in Bourbon barrels for around 7 years, which is kind of a sweet spot for me. The taste is more of like a traditional Irish Whiskey, and I haven’t been able to put my finger on the wonderful finish. Not as much heat as I would have expected from a cask strength 116.8 proof. As much as I’m enjoying sipping it neat, I hated it with ice. Of all the Spot Whiskeys this is one of the more difficult to obtain. I was quite surprised when I saw it a few days before St. Patrick’s Day at MSRP of $122 Astor Liquors in NYC is selling it for $189. It was meant to be.

@Bridger everyone should see Slayer at least once in their lives. A metal heads Beatles.

A band I was in back in the day opened up for Slayer on their "South Of Heaven" tour at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver. It was nuts.

@Nostradamion damn!! I just had to look up that venue. So many incredible bands played there according to Wikipedia. That’s actually only a few miles from my house now.

They were probably at their wildest during that album/ tour. Young and crazy and nearing the height of their success.

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

@Mizmazzle Yeah, it was pretty crazy; the pit was nuts. We also opened up for a band there called MOD who featured Billy Milano; that was also a great show. Saw sooooo may amazing bands there, including Metallica on the "Ride The Lightning" tour with Cliff Burton. His hair was so long, it was whipping me in the face while he was headbanging!!

Will probably cross post this in Jokes. This probably won’t make sense if you don’t know the cartoon characters, but here goes.
Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd break into a distillery. Daffy turns to Elmer and says…Is this Whiskey? Elmer says…Yeth, but not as Whiskey as Wobbing a bank!

VIP tour of Leopold Bros distillery, one of the great American distilleries right now. It was associated with the launch of this vermouth that is a collab with Mathiasson vintners of Napa, based on their Cabernet and fused with distillates of wormwood, rose, white pepper, Colorado peaches, and some ginger. They do things like distilling each ingredient individually at the optimal temperature to extract the items flavors. The bottles have RFID tags in the seals so you can pull info about each spirit including whether you’ve opened your bottle. Really an amazing place, produces, and tour.

A good friend who works in the industry turned us on to them what seems like almost 20 years ago now (feeling old). Haven't had it in a while but recall their gin being really excellent.

Very cool intro to the Leopold brewery @mclaincausey . Got me curious on whether the Leopold brewery folks are related to Aldo Leopold. A leading conservationist force during the early 1900s in the US who wrote “Sand County Almanac”. A fantastic read for anyone interested in nature.

                      The journey is the objective.

@mclaincausey Nice. I have one of those Absinthe servers, third photo. I picked it up in Chicago years back. I'll post a photo tomorrow.

@ROman very nice. I’ve not seen that style of glass. I have the spoon and glass but no fountain. I don’t drink absinthe straight that often, and when I do I dilute/louche but skip the sugar:

Y’all can guess why I keep absinthe around:

Hi guys! Somehow in this thread everyone avoids vodka. Meanwhile, the drink deserves attention. I always take 250 milliliters for the evening. Otherwise, if I take 500, then anyway, it will all be drunk) It's always like that with vodka. We drink while we have it))
