Can’t wait to see some travel pics. Katie was preemptively mad at me last night at how much shenanigans we will be getting up to at the party when I told her about this.

We had a first good night in the van in Metz. Visited the gothic Cathedral, which is - due to it's 6500 m2 of painted windows - called 'God's Lantern'. Some of the windows are by Marc Chagall.

Then went on passed the fields of Verdun and circumnavigated Paris towards Normandy, where we saw the Bayeux Tapestry , an impressive 70m piece of embroidered cloth depicting the events leading to the Battle of Hastings. A medieval cartoon, so to speak.

And now we are standing with the van above Omaha Beach. Everyone seems to be preparing for next weeks 80th anniversary of D-Day. Lots of Americans here, probably more than French.

Today we drove passed Mont Saint Michel to Saint Malo. Had a great dinner with oysters and fish in the Old town.

Met a friend from home. The Gorch Fock‘s home port is Kiel.

Today we drove along Brittany‘s north coast (Côte de Granit Rose) westwards. Now we are on the Crozon Penninsular where we‘re planning to hike tomorrow. I‘m basically living on oysters and cidre now.

Had a great evening in the small fishing village here. Still pretty much pre-season.

As we couldn‘t decide on the food, we just took all five starters and no main course. Was an excellent dicision.

Later we met Oregano, such good boy.
