That would be 3rd generation. My grandfather (who lived on Stromboli Island) organized tours to Iran, among other places, in the 50s and 60s, and my father, after retiring as a pastor, he led groups to Italy, Asia Minor, and the Levant. I have actually done something like this before for a group of friendsโto Israel. So, who knows? That might still happen.

This is my grandfathers grave on Stromboli Island.

But a little more humility. Thank you for following this and finding it interesting.

@endo truly miss Venice

Today we visited Padua, home to one of the oldest universities in the world (founded in 1222).

Galilei and Copernicus, Andreas Vesalius and William Harvey, among others, taught here (awesome academic name-dropping).

This is the lectern from which Galilei gave his lectures.

Unfortunately, we couldn't visit the Scrovegni Chapel with Giottos frescoes because we hadn't booked tickets in advance. Darn, but I'll come back sometime.

(not my foto)
But now itโs time for wine & pasta. Salute!

Camp endo has moved and weโre now in the Laguna die Grado near the Gulf of Trieste on a small campside on itโs own little island (Isola del Paradiso, sic!).

(not my foto, obviously)
Going to have a few relaxed days and skipped our plans for the Alps due to weather conditions up there.

The kitchen recommends today: Mrs. E's very delicious Thai curry.

Hell yeah.
-
how many days do you stay in each place??
-
That varies, sometimes only one night, currently four nights.

Today we explored the Laguna di Grado by e-bike.

We visited Grado with its Basilica of Sant'Eufemia, dating from the middle of the first millennium.

But above all, we simply had fun cycling through this fascinating lagoon and marsh landscape in sunshine and only a light wind, with the Alps visible in the background.

As a reward, we had spaghetti alla vongole. Delicious!

Grado is pretty close to where we live. When there is not too much traffic we can do it in 3 hours. Itโs our spontaneous weekend at the sea destination.
