@goosehd You should probably open a whole new topic for this, Japan Blue vs. Pure Blue Japan, https://japanblue-jeans.com/ vs. https://www.purebluejapan.jp/
The Sashiko Coverall they are referring to should be this: https://japanblue-jeans.com/jbot1304-id.html

          …and done.

…pro tip: Don’t be the next guy to mention Japan or Blue…my ban finger is itching and my eye's a twitching. 🤣

What’s the opposite of a ‘safe word’?

Technically, I haven’t mentioned either word, but there is this link to add to the confusion…

Question for those that own the Sashiko Coverall Jacket: Does it shrink after washing in hot temperatures? A shorter sleeve length would be great post-wash.

@cityofdelusion really can't say. Only recently started to wear it again after years of neglect 🙂 and don't even recall if I washed it ever. Also: I have the opposite problem (borderline too short), so no washing planned or necessary.

@Tobi Ah, thank you. Hope you can get some wear out of it or find it in a more fitting size if you decide to purchase it again! 🙂

@cityofdelusion sorry for missing your question. I have not noticed shrinkage after washing it on 40 degrees and drip drying. But I remember stretching it right after the wash, just to have it without wrinkles, but that might also restored it to the pre-wash dimensions.

Alright, so here's my result regarding the shrinkage of the Japan Blue Sashiko Overall Jacket (in case anyone has the same question and needs the information):

                            Background:
Some retailers mention on their product pages that there's no shrinkage, but the tag (which is in Japanese, but I translated it) says to be cautious, because it'll shrink. Due to the conflicting advises, I decided to ask for real-life-experience here.

                            Result:
I washed the jacket at 95°C (yes, you read that right) as I wanted to shrink the sleeves as much as possible and fortunately it was the highest temperature offered by the washing machine available to me at the time. I unfortunately forgot to document the pre and post wash measurements, but I can say that the jacket shrank about half a size in every direction (chest, shoulders, sleeve length and overall length). While I wanted only the sleeves to shrink in length (since they were about 3-4cm too long), I LOVE the way the jacket fits and looks even more post shrinkage in all the other areas.

There you go folks, now you have the answer 🙂
