For the blues heads out there (might just be me), I saw Selwyn Birchwood last night in Columbus. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Mostly played his own stuff but weaved in some Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters while playing slide - melted my soul. His bass player and drummer were really good too. I think his studio albums usually include a sax, keyboards, backup singers, etc but the stripped down set was really fun. Did a Buddy Guy walk out into the crowd thing at the end. Just a complete player and complete blues set. Will absolutely go see him again if I ever get the chance.

I saw Plant with Suzi Dian et al launching his new album and tour on Monday. They're great (as you can imagine any of Plant's bands are). He can still play the harmonica like a beast.
Last night I saw him again in conversation. He is the most chilled muthafucker you can imagine. Zero to prove. The conversation was more like two guys having a pint down at the local.
One of the stories Plant told was that he didn't want to speak with Jeff Buckley after seeing him live as he didn't know what to say. He didn't want to just say "great gig man". He was that nervous about meeting Jeff as he was huge fan. (Ironically Buckley felt the same way about Plant)
Apparently Jimmy Page was at the same Buckley gig and spoke a lot with Jeff after. Plant said, that was probably because Jimmy was looking for another vocalist!

Will this be worth the 2 hour drive back home? Hope so!

@ARNC I am so pleased you got to see them in such a gorgeous venue and beyond envious.

@mclaincausey it looked like it was being filmed so you might be able to pick it up somewhere. I’ve been listening to his recordings a lot this year on my commute but the live experience is something else! Your previous posts ensured booking was my top priority when tickets were released earlier this year, so thanks for your contribution.
Edit: set list added in case you’re interested. No expert but I was pretty happy with this.

Me and my wife saw morrissey last night in Berkeley, was such a great concert. This nice older drunk guy came and gave us tickets bit closer. I checked it out quick, and was hella packed on the cement seats. Plus we were diggin the lawn/blanket area with sick view of bay bridge and SF in the back drop, and less crowded vibes. -
@meatmarketdenim1 gotta ask... Which Smith's songs were played?
-
Just saw Lamp. Russ Lawton on kit, Scott metzger on guitar and Ray Paczlowski on organ. Super tight organ led funk rock. Touring the US this fall

@catdad1 you can see a setlist here

Billy Strings in Dublin, what an emotional and energetic finale to this European tour. If you haven’t given these lads a listen before, do yourself a favor!
-
@SourPower I wondered if this would happen when I saw you were in Dublin but didn’t like to ask. Glad you made it.

@IH-GARY
Nugs is such a great streaming service. They usually have a great Black Friday year subscription that is like 1/2 off. -
@catdad1
Opened with shoplifters of the world! Played a good amount of smiths songs ; all up on that link. Still riding high off that concert, if you get a chance def hit up his show. Never know when going stop touring -
@meatmarketdenim1 I missed him and Johnny Marr recently.. really bummed. Eyes are definitely peeled for the next chance. Those concerts you relive in your head days after are certainly staples! Glad you had a good time!
