IHJ-123-OD - 14oz Broken Twill Selvedge Denim Work Jacket - Indigo Overdyed Black
-
Just bought a large. Sized up for layering like I did with my 293. I knew resistance was futile.

@Tago-Mago …evil laugh

We’ve got XL and XXL for those who missed out!

@Northman Think of the sizes ordered and offered like a bell curve. Traditionally the majority of sizes ordered have been in the large and XL range with the xs’s and 4x’s being the least.
Truth be told, that up until a few ish years ago, there were no 4x’s. IHUK had to fight pretty hard to get them added to the releases.
Sp-Large Gang, unite!
Length has always been the tricky part for me (6’4) and hoping this jacket is long enough in 4x, understanding that it’s meant to be a somewhat shorter cut on the body length (I think?)
-
Was pleasantly surprised when I realized 5 mins after release that I was late and there was still XL available, checked back a little while later and no more!
-
@Denman-John looks great with green!
-
For those who have grabbed one, this is mine after a couple of years of semi-regular wear.

I went with XXL . Couldn’t be happier with the fit

How do you guys find that these fit? I’m borderline XXL and XL in a type 3, though I do prefer a snug fit. I missed out on buying from IH direct due to my hesitation, so I’ll be picking it up from another retailer.
My hesitation was over going for a L or XL

Received today. Tried it on. Instant favorite. I am so glad I picked this one up. Perfect.
-
@Northman drop some pics man
-
Look carefully at the measurements and go from there. I wouldn’t think you’d want to size down all the way from XXL to L. Fit will be similar to a type III @thewizarrd

It is not warm enough here to wear it yet. Poor image quality sorry.
SP-large is great for me. Relaxed and cozy fit while wearing a t-shirt but not too much. XXXL could have worked, but there is always a risk it might be a little too constricting for me. Feels good and versatile. Length is also just right for a tall fella like me. With the bigger size you get longer sleeves, but they don't bother me. They feel just slightly shorter than on the 293, but not by a lot.
I am sure I could layer a hoodie under, but I plan to wear this like in the pic with a t-shirt. I would have been XXXL in the indigo based on the sizing.

Just got mine. I'm so glad I didn't pass on this and this initially wasn't even on my radar. I know this is blasphemous to say but I think I might like this even more than my 293. The fit on this is perfect for me. I sized up to a large as the medium is just too small in the OD (I probably would have gone medium in the indigo version). It is so comfortable right out of the bag and isn't tight or too loose. Also sizing up gave me a little extra body length which I appreciate. I have the Big John R609 Rare jacket which is a similar style and the 123 fits better and is more comfortable to wear.

Damn, seeing these pics of the OD version has me wondering if I should've went that route as some pics make it appear like it's semi-broken in already. What I mean is the front zipper seam, cuff and arm seams as well as other places on the jacket appear to have nice faded lines, whereas other pics of the OD jacket look solid black. Just curious how the jacket looks in real life. Appreciate the pics on here, but it's admittedly hard to tell.
One other question I have for the IH crew is that the measurements on the OD version seem to be a bit smaller than the indigo version; I'm an XL in the indigo model - would I need to size up in the OD version?
-
@Nostradamion it's common to size up with OD denim because the process takes out all the possible shrinkage and that's why the measurements often run smaller by half a size or even to a full size. But I think it's up to how your current size fits you and how big the difference in the most important measurements is. Also keep in mind that a jacket mostly don't stretch like jeans do.
-
@FlavourFade Thanks much for the feedback. If I jump up to a 2XL in the OD, the chest is going to be way too big, so I might just try an XL even though it might be tight.
-
@Nostradamion I've gotten slight stretch in my 293. I think if it's just slightly tight it can stretch a tiny bit. When it was new sometimes bending over/sitting down it would pop a snap open. Hasn't done it since it was new.
