I couldn't find anything showing the 20's Mo off clearly - blame it on the fact we were young and poor and could only afford potato cameras back in the mid-00s. I don't even think the iPhone 1 was out when this was taken.

@jerkules They were fun. Sadly I combed them out (which took ages) before my 3rd year of uni on the misguided assumption that I might apply for a job or two and need to be presentable at an interview.

@EdH this really speaks for itself but I can’t help but admire the juxtaposition between the hair and attire. Serious but ready to party. You CAN have it all!!

I feel like in my personal experience at least, once you go stache, you'll never wanna go beard again. I look at old pics of myself with a fully hirsute face (or at least the best scraggle that my Irishness can produce) and think "fucking hell, who invited the guy from the Spin Doctors?" Ok maybe that's being overly self-critical, but it's bad. I feel much happier in my John Prine configuration, might even stick with it eternally.

Second, I realized recently I like both the hairy face and the naked face and will, moving forward, alternate more regularly. I think when I have a beard I miss smelly aftershave so when I run out of an aftershave I like I’ll grow the beard for a bit until I miss the smelly stuff again. I came across some beard pics of me at work recently and it looked awesome.

Yep I go back and forth between the “Prine” and a full beard but I haven’t been totally clean shaven since probably’04. Maybe it’s time for a full shave? My beard has really grayed up here in the past few years…thanks kids.

Being a barber I hear complains over gray or graying hair all day. I can’t stand it. I think gray hair is awesome and it’s certainly better than losing your hair.

I agree about the grey hair – I think it looks cool. Although, I do have a bit of "whoa I'm not ready yet!" when I see them coming in (which is, lately, a lot). Whatever, Grizzly Adams time!

Also you do have a good looking beard, Matt. I'd grow one a lot more often if I had one like that. Also I bet you could grow a fucking wicked Magnum PI stache.

I have a small handfull of grey hairs so far. They're quite localised. I'm kinda hoping it continues to come in that way - if it does I'll have a stripe of grey in my quiff up top, and (if I grew the beard out again) a stripe of grey on my chin.

My brother used to get this weird, patchy alopecia when he lived in London. I put it down to the pollution and stress of living there. When he moved out to the country it grew back, but disproportionately grey. So his head can look a bit like a negative photo of a dairy cow in the wrong light.

@AdamC I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, I'm a bit disappointed that you're completely out of focus. On the other hand, I'm incredibly relieved that you're completely out of focus
